A group of us visited at the end of our tour. Things seemed to start OK with orders taken and drinks delivered. However the food was very disappointing. The empanadas were soggy and the cheese awful. I had the vegetarian spaghetti which was pretty tasteless...More

We had dinner at Mama that was recommended by a local touristic guide. We were told to try the potato soup, which is a very typical food in Ecuador. It was very good, although it was a simple dish. We also had chicken with vegetables...More

A great choice over Equatorian food. I took the baby pig and was not disappointed. Service was nice and quick. Maybe just a bit overpriced for Equator?

Staff is ok. Food is less than standard. Filetsteak was chewy. Set menu was standard Ecuadorian. Should be around $3 in a restaurant for locals.

I ordered the 1/2 coy which was ok but unless you want to eat pig skin with little to no meat, I suggest you try something else. The hot sauce that comes wth the complimentary popcorn was delicious.

Both my partner's ribs and my pork were dry, chewy and horrendously overcooked. I found the plantain empanada exceptionally dry - however that may be what they usually are. The llapingachos were very nice, but overall not a nice dining experience at all.

We were especially keen to try cuy during our Quito trip. Mama Clorinda restaurant is across the street from the Hop on / Hop off tourist bus so easy to locate. We had a lunch of tamale, humita, a seafood empanada and a whole cuy....More

We were in the area early Sunday evening and were after an early dinner. Mama Clorinda was open and the prices reasonable so in we went. We both had a single dish with one eye on the Chocolate Shop 100 m away for desert. The...More

I have visited Quito three times and have eaten at Mama Clorinda each time--twice with classes of my college students--and it is a perfect place to find authentic, delicious, reasonably priced Ecuadorian cuisine. I let my students order their own entrees, and also make certain...More

This place serves your standard Ecuadorian fare but at a price premium. Environment was pretty cosy at a hip part of the city so you'll see many people enjoying the night life in Quito. The stand out was the guinea pig which normally is served...More

Ecuadorian cuisine restaurant just off Plaza Foch serves tasty national specialties . Try the llapingachos (fried pancakes of mashed potatoes with cheese) with steak or, for the adventurous, cuy (guinea pig). Mama Clorinda's as the place to have traditional Ecuadorian food.
