As venezuelan living in Chile for the past 3 years my wife and I attended this place as she was feeling a wee bit homesick; seeing that her mother passed away recently I decided to comfort her and invited her to have lunch there. I...had already read about the high prices so when I opened the menu I wasn't surprised but another story turned out to be as our dishes came in. Presentation was average venezuelan restaurant that you would expect back home but the food (cachapas) was nothing short of poor as it lacked flavor and consistency. An introduction on cachapas: its a batter made from ground corn, salt, sugar, whole milk and a pinch of flour whipped together then cooked on a large pan oiled with butter. Usually restaurants would add more flour (since its cheaper than corn) to yield more batter resulting in what could be described as a corn pancake which is something you DO NOT WANT. Unfortunately this is precisely what you get in Cachapas Don 70, a corn pancake that sticks to your plate, cutlery and gums. Seeing as it's quite difficult to find proper Llanero cheese in Chile we ordered the cachapas with the pricier Telita cheese but not getting our hopes up: instinct proved me right, cheese was bland and lacking flavor too (but thats not their fault, just dont fall for the pricier cheese) We had a side of tostones with nata and again, nothing spectacular, we've had better in roadside dinners in Venezuela. Service was below average, my wife accidentally dropped her fork and we spent quite some time signaling and calling waiters to get it replaced, same thing happened waiting for the check/tab. For the price and quality of food served its really not worth it, let alone the service. We are definitely NOT going back there and I would not recommend to friends or family. No matter how homesick you feel unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket or someone is buying you lunch (I would rather go somewhere else) its not worth itMore
