We have been to Chef's table multiple times over the years and my wife and I are always amazed at the creative and unusual dishes. The fact that the menu changes so often means you can go back frequently and always experience something new. The atmosphere is lively but you can easily have a conversation. The tables are high and are arranged very well so as not to have interruptions from other diners. There are three tasting menu options 4,6 or 8 courses. We always go for the 8 course and this has never disappointed, we are full but not uncomfortable. Each dish is presented to the table by one of the chefs and is explained in detail with visible passion. The wine list is not extensive, but they do permit corkage (1 for 1) in case you have a special bottle you wish to bring. In fairness the restaurant wine list has more than enough options to suit all budgets. For me this is a top five restaurant in Singapore and whilst it is not a low price, it is very good value considering the quality of ingredients and the expertly crafted (and innovative) dishes. I would highly recommend this restaurant for pretty much all occasions and we will definitely be returning in the not too distant future.

Had an excellent opportunity to dine here as the restaurant collaborated with Chope, to celebrate their 4th anniversary by presenting an exclusive menu for the month. Dinner kicked off with the Argentinian prawns, butterflied and charred yet contrasted with the sweetness of melons. The hokkaido scallop which came next was my highlight, the plump and sweet and accompanies by an excellent lobster bisque which reminded me somewhat of a laksa broth, I only wished I had some bread to mop it all up. The atlantic cod fish came swimming by, and the texture although not the typical flaky cod still had a good bite and was accompanied by a safe cauliflower puree. What followed next was the potato / egg / truffle, a spin of textures with the potato creme being accompanied by breaded chicken oysters and a smoked egg for that extra creaminess. Last savoury dish presented was the black angus beef, wasn't much to shout about but still tasty nonethless. To end it off, the banana split was presented which was a bana parfait accompanied by a quenelle of vanilla ice cream and which we couldn't put our mind on but something was unique about that ice cream. Would be leaning more towards a 4.5 rating as the food was presented beautifully and some dishes stood out more than others. Concept was interesting as the regular menu is presented in a Japanese omakase style listing only the ingredients and leaving the chef to interpret the dish which is only known to us upon serving. Service was attentive and the chefs were out interacting with the guests and explaining the dishes as well. Only wished they did more with the ventilation although having an open kitchen concept made it inevitable that the smell of the food would stay on you. Shout out to the cute english style bathroom and the environmental decision to use hand towels rather than paper towels. Overall a lovely dinner and experience here.

This is a really fabulous restaurant among the many in Singapore. As soon as you enter, you feel welcomed and excited by the atmosphere. There are not very many covers, but the restaurant has a great buzz and energy. The staff are really welcoming and friendly, and you are put at your ease immediately. The menu is really interesting - you are not sure what lies ahead, as there is a list of varied ingredients. All you need to do is say which of these your really don't like or want - and then wait to see what Chef creates from the list. My wife and I have been to restaurant a few times, and each time has been a revelation. The food is SENSATIONAL!!!! The dishes are presented by the Chef and his team, and beautifully presented. Each mouthful is characterised by beautifully balanced ingredients. The wine options are really nice, and the pairing menu is well chosen by very knowledeable somellier. For the quality, the experience and the outstanding food, this restaurant is a must

Having been to many fine dining restaurants/hotels with posh settings at similar price range, I have to say this is very poor value for money. It's your average restaurant in Tanjong Pagar area, with 2 very basic toilets and 2 shared basins outside the toilets (not what you would expect for this price point). Waiters are not uniformed as commented by another reviewer and one of them has a tattooed arm (well exposed) but well perhaps not every guest has an issue with it. We ordered 2 sets of 4 courses and 1 set of 8 courses with 2 bottles of wine ($98++ each). The damage was more than $600 for 3 pax. The cold bread is chargeable (we had to ask for it to be warmed up). Food and wine is passable and nothing spectacular/impressionable as what you would expect of this price point except that the portions are extremely small. We stated our food preferences to the waiter right at the start. I specifically asked for seafood. I can't recall what the first 2 out of the 4 dishes I ordered were, just that the food occupied 20% of the large plates (mostly garnishings/sauces). The reviewers' photos did warn me that the portions are small but when half of my courses still didn't half fill me (I'm a small eater), I asked for bread which was not offered voluntarily as most other western restaurants do. By the third dish, there was still no seafood. I rejected the third dish as the medium rare beef was too raw for me. We were not asked how well we wanted our beef. I asked if I can have a seafood dish since this was communicated right at the start. I was offered a pork dish instead. By this time I was really puzzled why I can't have some scallop/prawns when I have to pay $100 for my meal (I can have a large crab at a seafood restaurant). The waiter finally came out with one scallop decorated with garnishings and sauces. OK at least I have one scallop!!! The last dish was fish. The learning point - insist on what you want since you are paying the bill! For the price, the portions are minute, passable food and given you won't know what you get (even when you tell them what you like you still may not get it), you are better off going to one that you can order what you want, pay the same price tag and get a much higher class experience as you will feel more pampered. Having said this, there was no major unpleasantness - the waiters are fine. Just nothing spectacular. I won't be going back.

We looked for an outstanding restaurant to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. We had the 6 course meal with 4 wine pairings and were absolutely delighted with the food, presentation, wines and knowledge and attention of the staff. One of our party must eat gluten free. Where as other establishments make little effort to cater for such food allergy, Chef Stephan made every effort to accommodate the request and provide an outstanding meal. We will be back next time we are in Singapore.

We celebrated our anniversary at Chef's table and loved it. We went for the 6 course option w/ 4 wine pairing. We called out a number of ingredient we wanted to avoid - which were impeccably followed by the chef into the stunning dishes which continued to surprise us with delight through the evening. We'd look to come back soon!

A belated review.. Enjoyable fancy night out, was impressed with the environment in side the restaurant which is not over the top fancy, and has a more casual vibe which suits our preferences. We did the 8 course degustation, each dish was well presented, clearly explained to us and overall very satisfying - worth the special occasion. The staff interaction and service were impeccable (which is no mean feat in Singapore!) - could not fault it. A special thanks to sommelier Manoj who took great care of my ever emptying glass while taking the time to explain the wines to me. Will visit again.

Heard lots of good things before finally making a booking through Chope. Informed restaurant that it was for a birthday celebration and they kindly prepared a cake for two of us. I had a 6 course w/ 4 wine pairings, partner had 8 course w/ 6 wine pairings. Each dish was excellently executed - nothing was over or undercooked. Portions were fitting so you wouldn't be over nor underwhelmed. Favourite dish of the night was a medley of mushrooms topped with a cured egg yolk. Nothing was too avant garde (hence shocking) and wines complemented each dish completely. Can't fault anything, really, especially for the price point.

Had a surprised birthday dinner there arranged by friends in March before the Covid lockdown happened and was swept away by the amazing food , great wine and accomodating services. The sommelier and waiters are very friendly and funny making it a joyous occasion for my birthday. I was impressed by the little details they added to make it a special birthday celebration for me. Our table has quite a list of food limitation due to different religions but they were all thoughtfully catered to. We went back again last weekend. Just my husband and me for a rare romantic dinner. The chef delivered once again with beautiful food and service. We like the personal introduction of dishes by the chefs involved. Thank you for another wonderful night!

I’ve been to chef’s table three to four times for various occasions. Food has been consistently well prepared and served with attention to detail. Clear articulation of what went into it and food service was quite prompt. I highly recommend for curious diners who value fresh produce and lovely plating.

We had an amazing birthday celebration dinner at Chef's Table on 7 August, 2020. The wonderful journey has started from reservation stage, staff paid great attention to every detail of our preference and dietary requirements. We took the 8-course set dinner, every dish came with pleasant surprise. Special thanks to wine sommelier who gave us fantastic recommendation for our champagne, wine and digestive wine. We are extremely amazed by the excellent service and teamwork at the restaurant, on such a busy Friday evening, flow of courses goes very smoothly for every table, drinks are consistently topped up. We feel the passion of all the staff, it naturally cheer up diners at the restaurant. We'll certainly come back soon.

Based on the past reviews I let myself have higher expectations for this place. Although it was fine, it was not special and something I'd return to. Firstly the bread cost $5 per pax. Even fine dining restaurants charging far more or normal restaurants do not do this. Especially if the bread was not something special made in house with some unique spread. This gave me a really poor image of the place front he get go. Service was decent although I believe that the explanations for the food can be less rushed. Especially since it's an omakase you'd expect some more information about the food, style or story if any. The food was not special. Expected to have something special but it was just that. Average food on a plate. Good portions which I appreciate. Had no real cohesion with the flavours. The dishes were things you'd find at any other restaurant as they were very safe and lacked finesse. For example the Tuna Tartare had white veins or fibres inside. Which is just meat that's not minced properly. Disappointed as the reviews were so fantastic.

Dear E18304049, We would like to thank you for dining with us at the Chef's Table by Chef Stephan. It was us a pleasure to host you. Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about your experience. I will try to explain certain points you have added to your feedback. 1) As you even mentioned some restaurants do charge more for their experience as Chef's Table do, therefore they incorporated the cost in the fixed menu prices, what comes with bread. We personally don't serve bread, because we believe there is no need to eat bread prior dinner, as our portions usually are sufficient (as you mentioned). As well, given our pricing, we are one of the lower end priced restaurants with the quality and service we offer. We did serve bread in the beginning when we opened in 2015, and we realised that 75% of the bread / butter / olive oil and balsamic vinegar went to waist. That's not the idea, when running an Omakase restaurant or actually any restaurant. Nowadays we have only 1 out of 10 tables ordering bread. The $5 charge simply covers the cost of serving. Our bread is made by NickVina - an artisan bakery 200meters away from Chef's Table. We support a local baker (that is trained in Germany) and makes fantastic breads. You may want to check them out. Highly recommended. They have the proper environment to bake, what we at Chef's Table unfortunately don't have. Given that we offer a small selection plus adding French butter and olive oil and balsamic, we calculated the bread serving without profits. We offer it, to those that still feel like eating bread prior or during the meal. 2) We feel sorry, if the explanations have been to rush for you. We will see how we can improve on this. But we aren't story tellers, in the first place we are chefs. We always happy to explain the dishes, and answer further info or questions if a diner is keen, but we think that "story telling" is something that does not belong into a restaurant anymore (it was a trend - that unfortunately ruins sometimes the experience and the dishes). It's way more important to make sure the dishes are served hot and consumed hot, the way the dish should be. 3) As we are always changing menu on a daily / weekly basis, as we never want to serve the same dish to any diner, we running through hundred plus of dishes are year. We are sorry if there was a lack of finesse, but hard to explain flavour profiles, as everyone has different taste, and we in the kitchen go thru lots of dishes to make sure we work continuously on new dishes. Sometimes the dishes can be more Asian inspired, sometimes the dishes can be more refined, but sometime we like to serve simplicity or rather old school dishes. Obviously it would rather easy to run one menu for 1 or 2 months, but we avoid this, to make sure our kitchen is always moving on & won't become stagnated. Lastly, Chef's table got its name by calling each table a Chef's Table - as the Chef's serve the food. Based on high tables and high chairs, to make sure we have eye contact and a more easier conversation as such. We have some diners that like to talk, some they don't. We are happy to welcome anyone, even if we can't communicate with language, we hope to convince with what we serve on a plate or in a glass. We hope, one day in future we have the honour to host you again. We look forward. Till then, Stay safe and healthy. Chef Stephan & The Chef’s Table Team

Chef's Table puts together some of the most creative dishes I've seen. Their menu is based around choosing ingredients that you like and crafting something bespoke that creatively includes them. My wife and I really loved the concept and how the entire approach was focused on evolution, change, and not serving the same dish twice. Special mention to the Foie gras which was brilliant, and that's coming from a person who doesn't usually like it. It wasn't just the food that we loved, the service was great with the staff being extremely attentive. I challenged myself to finish my glass of water before anyone could refill it but failed repeatedly. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Chef's Table and I highly recommend a visit.

The staff & service are excellent & strike that wonderful balance between professional, knowledgeable & friendly. The ambience & decor are nice. As for the food, it's very good but not amazing. It's hard to fault the food, it was all very good, but, at these prices I think you want something a little surpising, exceptional or different & it didn't quite achieve that.
