About
Located on level three of The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, the name Colony alludes to the seafarious voyage that the British took to travel to the East Indies for trade and commerce in the late eighteenth century. Vintage maps and postcards which adorn the walls and decorative ornate leafing evoke the nostalgia of a bygone era, while eight different open concept kitchens, coupled with 'live' culinary showmanship, will bring diners on a multi-sensory journey through Singapore's heritage cuisines including Malaysian, Indonesian, Indian, Chinese and Western, with dishes that reflect the flavours of the nation's rich colonial past. Colony can seat a maximum of 260 persons and boasts a dynamic space that can be configured to accommodate groups of various sizes. The restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner daily, and vintage Champagne brunch on Sundays.

We had reserved a table for the New Year’s Day dinner buffet at Colony, and would you believe it, but there was a queue just to get in. Thankfully, we were ushered to our cute little corner soon enough.
As expected, there was a wide variety of high quality food. But for at least the first half hour or so, there were queues everywhere – for seafood (oysters, prawns, crabs, mussels etc), and also at the sashimi station. I wasn’t expecting this at the Ritz. Anyway, I chose to start with tacos with beef instead, and it was delicious!
Highlights of the buffet were the beef tomahawk, baked lobster, fresh prawns, green and white asparagus, and foie gras with red wine jelly. I skipped most of the Asian stations and enjoyed the spaghettini with extra portions of lobster (“less pasta, more lobster, please” and the chef obliged!).
The only letdown was that the French and Irish oysters looked rather anorexic. The French oysters at Capitol Kempinski’s 15 Stamford Restaurant trump these oysters by a wide margin. Seriously.
Note to self: Do not have back-to-back dinner buffets.

My Uncle & I were on a brief stop-over in Singapore and we were staying at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. I had decided to try out the buffet dinner here after receiving recommendations from several friends who live in Singapore. I called up this restaurant 1 month before our arrival in Singapore to make our dinner reservation. The dinner buffet session starts at 6.30pm each day, so we walked here from the MBS at 6pm and arrived 5 minutes before 6.30pm. The staff seated us promptly and explained what was included in our buffet fare.
The variety of food served was quite impressive, from cold seafood options, sushi & sashimi to freshly cooked laksa and Singapore beef noodles, chicken satay, their signature deep-fried salted egg yolk chicken wings, to roast pork & roast duck, and many more dishes. The sushi selection was rather limited on that evening. After trying almost everything on offer that evening, some of the food that I would recommend is: the roast pork with crackling skin, the signature deep fried chicken wings, the steamed seabass with Asian sauce, and the Yuzu Sorbet! YUMMM!!!! Needless to say, we were both totally stuffed by the end of the night!
The biggest drawback of this restaurant was, they were understaffed that evening. Each table has a large bowl for putting discarded oyster, prawn and crab shells, as well as chicken bones and other discards. When our bowl was full, my uncle asked a waiting staff to remove the bowl and replace it with a clean one, the staff member told my uncle, "Get an empty salad bowl yourself!". This took us by surprise! And when it was time to pay the bill, we waited for over 15 minutes for a staff member to bring us the bill, he took my credit card and disappeared for another 10 minutes! I became worried and went looking for him but to no avail! Eventually, he returned to our table to let me key in my pin code and he admitted that the restaurant was understaffed. One wouldn't expect an elegant restaurant inside a hotel of this calibre to face understaffing issues, this is the Ritz Carlton Millennia Hotel in Singapore!
Anyway, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy a feast of Singapore's local delights as well as fresh seafood and awesome desserts.

Earlier I made a reservation with Colony for afternoon tea ($65++ includes champagne) to celebrate my wife's birthday on August 10.
A few days later, I received a email to inform me that there will be a "new" menu. Now, the champagne is not included in the $65++ afternoon tea.
I was disappointed and cancelled the reservation. I feel that Ritz Carlton should have honored my reservation as I booked based on the info on your website.
To cut the long story short, we still went to the Colony on August 10 as my wife was keen to try the afternoon tea there, albeit without the champagne.
We were very impressed with the sincere service provided by your team of "gentlemen", especially Mr Ajay and Mr Rettish and a few others who stopped by our table to attend to us. They have definitely gone that extra mile to make my wife's birthday a very memorable and enjoyable one.
Although we missed the champagne, we think we made the right choice spending my wife's birthday at Colony.
Well done and keep up the first class service !
Yours sincerely
Tim and Linda

This is a review for the high tea (September 7, 2024). We had a very strange experience here from the get go. We were seated and not handed a menu, which was rather strange — it was held at a distance from us. We were not notified of the change in menu. What we saw on the website was apparently no longer available. We had booked this quite far in advance and had requested for good seats yet we were initially offered a dark corner despite the main area being available. The staff got our order for tea wrong, our savoury set was missing an item (which they spotted at our table and provided thereafter). I also ordered a cocktail called The Governer’s Invitation and was asked my name so they could customise my drink. It was served with no customisation, just the usual garnish? Overall the food was average, the drinks average, and the service questionable — it was far from the experience I would expect from the Ritz Carlton.

What stood out to me were the seafood options, the high level of each dish, and the exceptionally high quality of the live kitchen dishes, especially the pasta.
Compared to Japanese hotel buffets, the selection wasn't extremely large.
Seafood seemed to be the most popular, and there was always a line.
However, the seafood was of much lower quality than in Japan. I don't know if it's rare in Singapore or if it's considered delicious, but as a Japanese person, I felt it wasn't worth eating.
On the other hand, I was surprised at the high quality of the pasta from the live kitchen, which is unimaginable in Japan.
They sliced the truffles right in front of you, so it felt like good value.
The customer service was excellent.
They always provided the necessary service.
I went with my child, and when he started to get bored, they gave him an original Ritz-Carlton drawing set as a gift.
I think this is a restaurant I'd like to visit again.

Breakfast was not included in our room but we decided to try it on one of our mornings at Ala carte price for SGD $75 per pax. The selection of food was excellent and we enjoyed almost all the dishes we tried. Huge variety of western and Asian cuisines.
Some things we especially enjoyed: cendol chia seed pudding, kaya french toast, salmon eggs Benedict, selection of tropical fruits & nasi lemak
Service was a hit and miss. Abin was excellent and took good care of us. However, some of the more senior staff (female wearing white uniform with long sleeves) was less welcoming and never had a smile on her face when attending to us or asked first if our plates could be cleared before we were done.
Would still love to try their afternoon tea and dinner due to the excellent food quality and variety.

The overall food quality was good. I don't know if it's because it's a weekday evening, but I wish there was a higher grade of food by raising the price a bit as it's full of people. I often visit restaurants in hotels that receive many good reviews, but I think I have rarely experienced as good employee service as colony. It was the most touching in recent years to see them carefully observe the parts that customers may need and provide services in advance. In particular, the Anthony employee was the best at colony. Even if I visit next time, I really want to be served by this employee.

On my last night in Singapore, I chose to have a dinner buffet here.
I arrived at about 7 o'clock, and the hotel receptionist politely took me to the entrance of the restaurant, and then to the dining area.
The environment of this restaurant is beautiful and open. I sat in the side hall and it was very comfortable. There were no people coming and going.
It was just the diners on the other side talking loudly, but it didn't have much impact.
Plenty of food choices and beautifully presented,
The fish is very fresh, no ice cream smell, and the quality is very good.
The Singaporean salad as an appetizer is delicious.
I thought the first round of oysters was very fresh and sweet, but the second round was ordinary.
In terms of hot food, beef tenderloin, barbecued rice, spaghetti, salted egg chicken wings, soft shell crab, their hot food are all very delicious and highly rated, and they are very fresh and not overly cooked.
The Chinese dim sum are all worth trying.
In addition, the Malay desserts are delicious and must be tried.
Western desserts are of a certain standard.
The food is of high quality and the waiters are very attentive. Whenever they finish eating cold or raw food, he will arrange lemon water for diners to wash their hands.
Also seeing that we had a lot of crab shells, he would put empty shells in my bowl.
We ate until 8:30, and other diners had already finished eating, so there were not too many people eating in Taiwan. It was good that this restaurant could eat until 10:30.
There is also a credit card discount. The staff asked me if I had a credit card to take advantage of this discount. They were so enthusiastic.
This restaurant is worth visiting again! unforgettable memories!

We have been to colony multiple times to celebrate happy occasions. Our most recent visit was yesterday. Service has remained high standard, we were served by Tin, whose cheery disposition added to our dining experience.
However we did detect a significant drop in food quality in some of our favourite dishes.
The signature colony laksa was very watery and lost the previous thick richness and taste of the laksa broth.
The lobster bisque was also very bland and had very little flavour in it. It tasted like creamy water with a little hint of crustacean flavour, which was very unappetizing.
The prime roast didn’t taste as I remembered, maybe it was just a little chilled for me.
Things that we liked, the risotto was good, seafood still as fresh as we remembered it. And the satay was great.
Though I am unsure if colony can continue to justify the cost on just 3 good food items, one of which is just about sourcing fresh produce.

We had been to Calony for High Tea.
We were looking for vegetarian dishes and Hermon served us with pleasure with special order. Thank you Hermon.
Mr. Rethish spoke to us and made us very comfortable with our experience. He made sure our kid was busy with coloring by providing crayons and drawing. Icing on the cake was that once he came to know it was my son's birthday he came up with a cake and macrons to surprise us. Thank you very much Mr. Rethish and you made our day special. We will look forward to find an occasion to visit Calony

Came here for a treat at the start of our honeymoon. Had heard good things and was really hoping this restaurant lived up to its reputation.
From the outset I was very impressed with staff who helped us sort out our table booking. I had planned to reserve a time slot for our meal but had to delay to ensure we got on our oversold flight. Once we landed in Singapore, the time slot had gone. But kind staff were still willing and able to accommodate us at our desired time slot once when we explained we were only visiting for the one night.
The only strange element is you have to queue to begin with prior to opening but the queue is not marked or sectioned off, so people come and queue alongside you rather than behind you and it becomes a bit of a free for all to get seated. However, staff had seemed to notice who had been stood nearby longest and generally everyone was seated in the order they arrived. A very minor point in an otherwise excellent experience.
I believe booking is essential so that guest arrival is staggered which prevents queueing for food, and this was working well.
We were given a choice of tables inside the really nicely decorated restaurant, which appeared to be immaculately clean.
Then we started our visit to the buffet. There was a wide variety of food choices, divided into smaller display areas, with each area having chefs working away nearby to keep the food replenished. A good selection of food from various nationalities and all of it was excellent. Plenty of choices for vegetarians too.
The main interaction we had was with the staff who clear the tables in between courses and top up drinks etc. They were all lovely, professional and there was also one gent in particular who was very funny. I wish I could remember his name. Used crockery was removed promptly and drinks topped up or refilled in a very efficient manner.
All the chefs would answer any questions you had and were also friendly.
We were both extremely happy with the food.
I haven't been to another buffet restaurant in Singapore to compare this to in terms of price. For a top rated restaurant inside a beautiful hotel, we were happy to give it a go and we both felt it was absolutely worth the money.
Best buffet we've ever been to in our travels around the world and totally deserving of its reputation.
Would absolutely go again if we are in Singapore and would recommend to anyone visiting the country.

Decided to celebrate our milestone in this restaurant (a decade of Marriage). I would say the wide variety of food was unexpected plus they offer a free flow alcoholic drinks at a great value of $58++ per head (if you can drink its worth it) .
We were served by Abeshiek (hope i spell the name right) who was constantly looking after us as well as the rest of the guests in the area he was assigned.
Please send our compliments to this gentlemen who render an impeccable service from the moment we seated until we left. His spot on on little things was very instictive.
Thank you the Colony for the complimentary dessert as a way to greet and celebrate with us.
We had such a memorable celebration with you.

August 2024 - Best Buffet ever! Benedict, Sunderasan, Vinoth & Sudharsan gave us a great service. Particularly, Benedict he WOWed us with his amazing service on my wife's birthday and made it a memorable experience for us. There is also Indian section with both veg and non-veg delicious food. They take in feedbacks and improve thier service. We will definitely come back to Canopy for the exemplary experience.
September 2024 - This is a long delayed post due to busy work commitments. A really fantastic birthday celebration we had Colony for my mother in law. Ben, who is the restaurant manager and like brother, made this whole event so special by giving us a slot even though it was fully booked. The food was simply marvellous as we had been there a few times and quality of food as well as service is first class. Ben made it so special when he wrote a handwritten and beautiful token of appreciation for my mother in law for her birthday. We love the Indian section who prepared great vegetarian food on top of the actual buffet menu. Colony is the place to celebrate with your special one. Thank you Ben and team for the memorable experience.

I'm not even sure where to start. This was, easily. EASILY. One of the top 5 meals of my life. And it was a buffet. I come from a place where buffets are known for being completely mediocre but occasionally good ways to stretch your dollar.
At Colony the staff treats you incredibly well. I've never felt more taken care of in any restaurant.
The decor is jaw-droppingly luxurious, extravagant, and just downright eye candy.
Now, the food. Despite my obvious expensive taste (as exemplified by my review of this particular restaurant), I am not a person who eats shellfish regularly. Actually hardly ever. So I don't want to pretend I'm an expert on that particular portion of the buffet, but as a complete novice I can say the shellfish was extraordinary to me. The crab was deliciously sweet, the oysters succulent, the other various shelled creatures were also amazing (even if I didn't know what half of them were).
The sushi section blew me away. The freshness of the salmon, tuna, and rolls was outstanding. I don't believe I've ever had sashimi quite so fresh before.
Some other noteworthy mentions: the juice bar with fresh mango, passionfruit, lychee, etc... juices was awesome. The Indian section was phenomenal. The baked salmon gave my tastebuds a big ol' hug.
I could go on, and on, and on.
Oh! One last thing. The dessert section was... I don't have words. For the first time in a long time, I don't have words. I felt like I was in the premier French patisserie of the world.
The price tag may seem high, but I like to look at meals like this not only as something you have to do (as we all have to eat), but as an experience and an attraction in its own right. That way you're not only paying for food, you're paying for food and a completely unique and extraordinary experience. When you think of it in those terms, it doesn't feel quite so hard on the wallet.

I had the pleasure of dining at colony buffet, and it was an incredible experience! The selection was vast, offering everything from fresh salads and seafoods to a variety of decadent desserts. The quality of the food was impressive, each dish bursting with flavor and freshness. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with attentive staff Frecel and accomodating to assist us with our table and to John who attends to our request & who make sure that the table is ensuring everythin is well and especially to Mr Raj whos very caring and checking on us from time to time and give us the service that guests were well taken care of. I especially appreciated how clean and well-maintained the entire dinner table. My tummy and experience here is full. Surely will comeback again.
