To celebrate an April birthday we would usually lunch at Gunthers. However, we had to do a takeaway this year due to the covid-19 circuit breaker. Nevertheless our small party of 3 had a lovely lunch comprising cote de boeuf complete with trimmings including a lovely stuffed zucchini flower. Chef was also willing to provide off menu items we requested comprising alaskan king crab salad and onion tart. Portions were generous so we had enough for our dinner too. I would certainly not hesitate to use the takeaway service again since the food was delicious & suitable for takeaway - they kept well during the short ride home. Price is also very competitive and I would encourage anyone curious to try Chef Gunthers' dishes not to hesitate to try them at this time.

Went to celebrate birthday at Gunther & was satisfied with the experience. Staff were polite & attentive. The service staff who attended to our order had good knowledge of dishes & we were satisfied with his recommendations. The atmosphere was cozy but as all the tables were occupied, it became noisy with lots of chatters.

Again, the service was warm and friendly, especially by the senior male staff, who has been there many years. We enjoyed the foie gras, but thought it could have been seared longer, while the beef was very tasty. My wife thought it to be a little hard, but we enjoyed the sides like sweet corn too. The apple pie was not worth the extra money paid, she felt, as it was like the deep fried pancake you can find at Din Tai Fung, and was slightly on the dry, hard and oily side. The rum and raisin ice cream, while good, did not really jell with the apple pie.

Firstly I must say I have always given Gunther's a 5 star rating for their food! Gunther's cooking is divine and his dishes (regardless of pricing) are exquisite and near perfection for me. Secondly, I have always liked the professional service of Jeffrey and Mathieu who most of the time serve us when we go. Their excellent service is another reason we ended up going quite regularly. On my most recent January dinner there, it was 4 of us (my hubby and me and my son in law and my daughter) but this dinner left us turned-off and not returning again. One of the reasons we supported Gunther's was also their their free byo policy of 2 bottles for 4 of us (or 1 bottle per 2 pax). On this occasion, 1 of our 2 bottles was off and downhill so we asked the Filipino waiter (don't know his name) if we could go to our car to get another spare bottle of wine we had in the car to replace the bottle we brought that was downhill and not drinkable. He was friendly and smiled but little did we expect him to charge us a full corkage for this replacement bottle! We were very unhappy when the bill came with full corkage charge of the 3rd replacement bottle since we only drank 2 bottles (the 3rd bottle to replace the spoilt wine). We felt this Filipino waiter lacked empathy and understanding and so we had a bad experience this occasion and won't return again. Somehow, we feel that Jeffrey or Mathieu would not have charged us this 3rd replacement bottle to offset the bad bottle but we can't guarantee that we will always be served by only these 2 gentlemen.

Ordered their Coquille pasta with pork, paid 45 dollars after delivery (delivery was 3 dollars). Got literally 4 pieces of pasta and 4 tiny strips of pork, in a very small container. Pasta and the sauce had no taste and done so with overwhelming amount of cream. Would not recommend unless you are in for a small portion food.

Came here for my mother ‘s birthday. The service was great. They do offer free corkage so do check if you Want to bring your own wine . We ordered the 4 course degustation menu, special call out was the cold pasta, it’s was the right texture infused with truffle oil and topped with caviar. Quite the Noodle heaven experience! The team prepare a birthday desert for my mother which is very much appreciated.

If you are searching for a gastronomic experience, this is the last place to go... I don't know if this restaurant had a reputation previously or if it became recently poor, but it was just deceptive on many points. The quality of ingredients is less than average: a tasteless foie gras, something supposed to be wagyu but worst than a western stall in a hawker centre, an ice cream that is not better than a Haagen Dazs... And the cooking skills are low level: the two first dishes had just a taste of smoked bacon covering everything, the supposed medium rare steak was overcooked, and the dessert was terrible (a scoop of ice cream with watery whipped cream, last time I had this kind was in awful touristic place). To match with all this, the room had no daylight, purple LEDs that give the food a strange aspect, and a dusty decor looking like a cheap copy of a trendy Parisian place. All of this for an overpriced bill... I came there thanks to someone advising me, and I have now some doubts regarding his level of expectation! My only advice is to avoid this place if you are a food lover or travelled a bit in your life.

My husband said very good so I chose that to be fair to the restaurant. I would have chosen average myself as I felt there was a mix of hits and mixes. For the seasonal lunch menu, we chose a different starter, main course and dessert (paying extra for the cold angel hair pasta and apple tart). The cold angel hair pasta with caviar was pleasant, but it is not a unique combination. I remember trying a similar dish at another restaurant. Perhaps I am old fashioned. While the apple tart was again pleasant - I prefer solid apple pies which are choked full of apples. The choices which were part of the seasonal lunch menu (without extra cost) were tora tartare and creamy rice with mandarin orange dessert, both of which I can only describe as so so. The grilled Wagyu steak was excellent, but a very thin slice, while the scallop and prawn were well, scallop and prawn, though I liked the light smoked potato. However, the cost at 80++ I guess is reasonable though we certainly did not leave the restaurant "super full" as claimed by another reviewer.

Recommended by a friend but ultimately a disappointment. We had the medium sized tasting menu and it was not up to expectations. Generally speaking the food seemed to be heavy on oil and butter and portion sizes were small at best. Thank goodness for the bread! The bread was good.

We enjoyed our dinner last Saturday. Staff was attentive and service excellent. We had their signature angel hair pasta, baby milk fed lamb, Japanese red snapper. The fish was exceptionally fresh and delicious. For dessert, the apple tart was surprisingly good. The staff was also very kind to offer to portion every dish into 2 plates so we can share our food and enjoy more varieties. Overall, very good but prices tend to be generally high.

Had set lunch at S$80++. Really very poor compared to other similar fine dining restaurants where set lunch menus average around S$50 (Garibaldi next door is great at S$48). We were expecting something exceptional from a Michelin starred restaurant and paying a premium. Super small portions. The main was meant to be a wagyu steak which weighed no more than 50 grams which was tough and insipid looking not having been seared.. Desert was a spoon of rice pudding with two mandarin slices. Sorry but the whole experience was really pathetic and left us feeling cheated. Will never go back again.

Amidst all the corona dismay, we went to Gunthers place for a anniversary celebration. The degustation menu was exquisite, one gastronomical delight after another. The staff is very friendly and certainly up to the high standards. Free corkage is a valuable asset. We finished the degustation with a fine Irish coffee presented for us in the traditional way. Gunther is a former Ostend citizen like us, but that is not why we hold him in such high esteem. It is for his very refined cooking!

Had a great lunch here, with superb service from the three senior stalwarts to the newish young server. The food matched the service, and we enjoyed the truffled pasta and even the freshly baked little baguette. The Iberico pork jowl was fork tender and went well with the apple compote. If there was anything negative, it was that we wished the pork jowl was a slightly larger piece - it was that good. The desserts of earl grey bavarios, as well as the slightly disconstructed apple pie, were lovely, especially with the Havana rum raisin ice cream. The petit fours and coffee were okay.

Gunther never fail to disappoint. The service was attentive without being intrusive. What you expect from fine dining are all there. Strongly recommended. The cold angel hair pasta was unforgettable - hit all the right notes.

Was a disorganized and disheveled start to our evening. Our food was unexciting at best. Steaks ordered were so hot and steaming that we couldn’t finish them fast enough before the cooking continued and they ended up over cooked. If it wasn’t for our amazing waiter Leonard who had not only sommelier knowledge but was adept at desert flambé and had the poise and professionalism of a seasoned maitre d! We were shocked he wasn’t and suggest this be his post. We would have walked out after entree if it wasn’t for Leonard !
