I bump into this place while leaving the Italian restaurant across the road. This cafe was hidden behind some bushes and trees. I love the setting as it reminded me of Cafe/coffee shop back in the 1970s. The price of drinks and food are considered cheap for a cafe. Tea for S $2. Would recommend a visit for afternoon tea.

Retained the old rustic feel after the relocation. Ordered: A) 3 mushroom soups - tasted like Campbell soup B) curry chicken rice - mild and like Japanese curry C) roasted chicken chips and peas - ok D) fish and chips - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside E) big mixed grill - interesting to have grilled liver.... Yes it's historical. But it's no longer in its original location. Having had to be relocated due to road development. If you crave "British food" then absolutely come and you can order sausage sandwich, chips (fries), toast etc with ketchup etc (the menu is a who's who's of an english transport cafe) but you came away with the feeling it... Everyone knows that Singapore is either hot and sweaty, or very hot and sweaty. But when you come here, a non built up area it feels so much cooler as it is as no radiant heat from all the concrete and roads. The choice of beer and cider here is the best I have seen in Sing, and sensible prices... More

Friends, who have lived in Singapore, took me to Colbar for dinner and I really enjoyed it. It's a straight forward place. Sells European and Local food and beer. We had various combinations of chips, eggs and beans - which was fun! If you're in the area, definitely stop by. If you're not, I wouldn't necessarily make the trip.

This is another hidden away dining spot at ports down...opposite a nicer Italian restaurant pietrasanta... They have preserved the whole place and feel.. Nice selection of English beers and ales.. And those are probably the reasons to go back for...
