I got dragged here by a friend who was very curious about the food as she usually sees a line of people waiting to enter. The first and last time i was here was 15 years, before review sites became prevalent We came for a weekend dim sum lunch and the place looks exactly like 15 years ago, which is... More

Seems like not many people review this restaurant as the most recent one was the one that I had written on my experience for dim sum at Yan Palace Restaurant at Warren Golf and Country Club. This time I am reviewing about my dinner experience at the same restaurant. Together with my mother and husband, the three of us decided to... More

The Yan palace Restaurant I am reviewing is not the one at Upper Cross Street, it is the one at the Warren Golf and Country Club at Choa Chu Kang area. This is the second time I went to this restaurant for Sunday Dim Sum session. It was recommended by a friend and although is far from city, it is... More

Located at chinatown. Attend a wedding dinner there. The food is good. However their dessert is too sweet.

Has lunch there on Oct 2011. Though has a reservation and arrive on time, still has to wait to be seated. Avg food, avg service, poor atmosphere. Dim sum not fantastic and the set lunch is average. The prawn is not fresh. Don't think I will visit again.

We had dinner here to celebrate Chinese New Year and ordered the set dinner costing S$688 for a table of 10 people and it was without doubt one of the worst value meals i had taken in my life. The cooking was crude and seemed prepared by someone without much culinary skill nor panache, merely following a recipe. The fish... More

One of the famous 4 Chinese restaurants. Good Hokkien style food and quite reasonably priced.

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
