They were out of a few things, but what we had was good. Fresh, but not remarkable. Service was good and quick.

So we were staying in Nostalgia hotel - the key word here being Nostalgia, and the decor of the hotel would suggest that is Singapore Nostalgia. Attached to the hotel (I don't know if its a separate venture or not) is Potion Bistro and you get a discount if you stay at the hotel. I had hoped for some good... More

We bought two Groupons for date night (should have been my first warning), and thought we'd check it out because it's close to my apartment. The bar and restaurant were thoroughly depressing, with decor reminiscent of a funeral parlour, and two dour, bored-looking waitresses standing around. We arrived, and ordered pizza and lasagna. The pizza was perfectly round, with small... More

The restaurant is in a covered area outside the Nostalgia Hotel, screened from the road and busy junction by potted shrubs. Although it an be noisy at times, as can any, street restaurant in Singapore, if you are looking for western food in an area dominated by Chinese seafood restaurants then this is well worth a visit. Staying in Tiong Bahru

Neighbourhood Profile
Tiong Bahru
Home to both local families and transient expats, Tiong Bahru is a fascinating mix of tradition and youthful creativity. Its status as a conservation area ensures that this little hub has charm and heritage on display at every corner, while the 1930s art deco architecture provides a glimpse of days gone by. Stock up on fresh tropical fruits at the wet market, browse high quality literature and children’s books, shop for interesting gifts and local fashion, or munch on bargain-priced hawker food as the aroma of frying noodles and fresh-brewed coffee wafts through the air. Cap your day with a massage and a latte, a glass of wine, or a pain au chocolat from one of the many busy bakeries. An afternoon in this vibrant and beautiful neighbourhood is not to be missed.
