We tried a few different things. The fish tikka was great. The calamari was not bad and we had some roll that was a complete disaster, it was drowning in mayo. The service was ok.

A rather popular bar in the area serving a wide variety of Japanese, Thai and northern Indian food. Plenty of beers on tap with a great variety of liqueurs. It's affordable and is great place to entertain company!

Friendly atmosphere, the staff were attentive and polite, there is a selection of indian, thai, and western food. We tried a little bit of each and it was delicious. Nice friendly atmosphere.

Modern/hipster version of a Hawker Centre - Mad Nest has 3 different restaurants which share a modern/arty space. Japanese, Indian, and South East Asian. All 3 restaurants serve delicious food and the dining experience is great indoors and out. We ordered Margherita's which were tasteless and took a long time to serve, not worth the wait. We made sure we... More

The sushi is terrible, especially charging at this kind of price. Server is unattentive, calling them and wave at them, they could simply ignore when the whole premises is only 2 tables occupied. The Naan is as thin as paper. To be fair, this is not a place for dining, the trance music play so loud that we need to... More

I have been a regular diner at Mad Nest for several years now and invited several friends to join me for a gastronomic dining experience and everyone agrees that the food served is really delicious and tasty! Their oishi and volcano maki is THE BEST FUSION MAKI EVER!! I went to so many different countries and tried so many variations... More

I stayed in a hotel nearby for one night and found this cosy restaurant, whe you could sit on the patio. Nice menu, happy hour and really friendly staff there. Made me feel good.

Spent a lovely evening with a group of friends at Mad Nest last night. An easy place to find and greeted with a warm welcome. Great ambiance and not so cold inside that you need to put a jacket on. A very comfortable night out. I will definitely return. The menu is extensive...next time I'll try the Thai.

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
