I visited Zam Zam twice during the Singapore trip this time. Just a couple of hours after arriving in Singapore I was already seated at the table poring through the menu. I settled on the mutton biryani (S$9). The biryani was tasty even though after trying biryanis at different places during this trip I wouldn't say Zam Zam is the best but it still ranks highly on my personal preferences.  The second visit was to order takeaway chicken and mutton murtabaks before flying out. It was a bit of a queue as weekend mornings are usually packed with hungry customers. The young chap who manned the cashier was friendly and apologetic for making me wait and helped me to check if I received the right number of murtabaks. That's what I call customer service.

Even before leaving, I was looking forward to tasting the Murtabak and as soon as I had the chance, I came to Zam Zam to taste it and I was thrilled! The portions are very generous, so if you are averagely hungry, I recommend the small version of the dish, because the medium is already good for two. The place is on two floors, the one above has excellent air conditioning, absolutely necessary on days of extreme heat... Fast and professional staff, a clean and tidy environment for me, Murtabak absolutely not to be missed!

Can’t go past the murtabak in this busy spot. One of my favourite Singapore food experiences. And at $6 for a small size (which definitely wasn’t small by my standards) it’s great value. Murtabaks come in four sizes and chicken, beef, lamb, sardine and tuna. Don’t be put off if it looks packed, there’s a big upstairs dining area.

Ordered other dishes and two plates of chicken briyani and specifically requested for curry chicken thigh. Instead was served with a masak merah type chicken. Didn't want to trouble the staff as they were busy so just decided to eat it as it is. I realised that the papadam was missing only to be told that it was a 'separate dish' and it was chargeable (didn't get the memo though) Most of the places/stalls that I order briyani from, usually comes with some papadam, but not for Zam Zam. I guess $7 for a chicken briyani cannot cover the cost of the papadam! Probably, the acha or slice cucumber with tomato sauce will be chargeable in the near future too. The chicken murtabak was disappointing. The bits of chicken (which was dry) had bones in it, unlike the regular boneless pieces/slices of chicken. The dough was a bit thick and tough. Overall the service and food was average and I will probably not be returning anytime soon as the standard of food seems to have fallen below expectation.

Zam Zam is an institution in Singapore, a local canteen opened since 1908, that serves murtabak, kinds of thick pancakes native to India, typical of Malay Muslim cuisine and traditionally filled with sheep. It's huge food, generous, personally I haven't enjoyed it more than that, but the atmosphere is there, you feel there are still a lot of locals, in short, you have to test to make your own review. I do not regret because it is cheap but without more

The person who took the order was very rude. After ordering and waiting for 5 mins, asked the same person how long will it take; that person talk rudely instead of telling us how long it would take. He said "You ordered a few mins ago, I don't want headache. If you want to cancel tell me, I will cancel" Never saw any restaurant workers asking people to cancel the order for asking a basic question. We cancelled and left.

y the service was done is bad enough to say no to zam zam. We waited 20mins plus for Bryani the ppl come in after us food was serve to them faster then for 2 customers. If you as the restaurant cannot manage large groups of ppl u should tell ppl waiting time. We had to self service to take utensil as well. I see ppl self service take plates and utensils .. the cashier ger was horrible and rude. How can a cashier speak so rudely to a customer? If ur server guy didn’t give a customer the receipt then YOU AS THE CASHIER should go ask the sever to give the receipt not ask the customer go back up stairs ask for receipt a bit stupid right? Then if you feel overwhelmed cause to many ppl then u as the cashier should tell ppl this “I’m sorry please que this way to make payment..” I don’t believe this the first time people has complained about the management style of zam zam. If you know lunch hour is the peak hour and that tourist are returning to SG doesn’t it make a lot more sense to have more people in the restaurant? Else turn down ppl don’t keep can can can … if u have tourist then just close for the day. the food however was also disappointing standard dropped.

Let's be very honest on this restaurant. The food is below paranoid unsatisfactory. There are many many other restaurants that served an awesome briyani that Zam Zam. The stalls in Tekka (Little India) and various stand alone briyani such as one that is now on at the Night Bazaar Haji Lane area is awesome. It is always sold out if you are late. Zam Zam standard is over rated. The lamb shank briyani was terrible; the lamb shank that cost $20 was tough and the marination did not soaked in. The briyani rice that is named DUM briyani was not dum briyani. It was ordinary; there was not casher nuts, cardamon, coriander leaves or even raisins. The rice was a pale shadow from the briyani against one of the stall during the Ramadan Bazaar. I will not recommend Zam Zam to anyone anymore. My brother-in-law ordered the mutton briyani and trust me it came with a small tiny piece and it was tough. My spouse order bee-soon goreng and it came soggy. Those of you who really know what is briyani should be honest and not recommend of Zam Zam.

Despite the reviews our murtabak was definitely not the least bit crispy. It was okay but nothing special. The murtabak cooking a little further along in the same side opposite the mosque looked much more golden and crispy.

An honest review of a terrible dining experience by the staffs. On 06/02/2021, my family and I came here for our dinner. We then told a staff, who was wearing a black tee, that it was a table for five, the staff then offered us the table downstairs, which we then sit. But that same staff then told us to move upstairs, which we agreed upon because of air con and as he said that we could still sit together as a family. But what staff didn’t tell us was that we had to split us up into 3 and 2, despite initially telling us that there was 5 seats upstairs and us arriving as a family. We cooperated and when the 5 seats upstairs were available, we were rudely told off, by the staff upstairs, who has a tattoo on his left arm, to not be allowed to sit there as the staff wanted to cater to the next family. We then informed that we’re here as a family first and had waited. And earlier, was told by the staff below that there was a table for us together, and we still had to sit seperately? In the midst of that, they way the staffs spoke, especially to my parents were very disrespectful and utterly unprofessional. When I spoke to the staff to feedback, I was instead challenged by that same staff to speak to the manager below myself. In fact, when the next family came in, they were lead upstairs thinking that they could eat together but was told to seperate. That entire family left on the spot. Probably the same lie that the staffs informed my family earlier. The food was also rubbish (Maggie goreng and chicken chop) were not cooked properly. This is on top of the terrible service, communication between staffs and rubbish quality overall. Utterly gutted and will never come here again. Totally ruined the mood of us here as a family. Train your staffs to develop some ethics when speaking to customers and have better cooks. Beyond any doubt, one of the most worst restaurant experience in my entire life. Utterly gutted with Zam Zam and what is used to be me as a consumer. Gutted, dissapointed and pissed with the treatment we received. Thanks so much for ruining my family’s mood. Having dine with my family and to other restuarants plenty of time, this was undeniably and undoubtedly the worst, 1/5 for the staff service and food. An honest review of the experience we had provided by your own staffs.

One of our favourite restaurants in Bugis and one we revisited many times. Prices here are cheap for Singapore standards, and the portion sizes are hearty. Highly recommend the chicken curry with rice side dish, and also the murtabak, which comes with delicious dips. Everything here is so tasty, and all served with a friendly smile on the staffs face. There’s a reason this place is so long standing, as it has got the food nailed. NB try to pay in cash as card has an extra charge. Would absolutely recommend!

I read some of the negative reviews. The honest answer here is if you are going for service, ambience or something aesthetically pleasing then don't go. The truth is this is a true street cafe. The quality and taste of the food was excellent. The service was good and quick. Very reasonably priced for quality food the locals also eat here. Thanks Zam Zam alhumaliah very nice.

After coming here 2-3 years ago, I was in the area and craving some biryani. I must say not to much has changed besides some wallpaper and change of staff. I was told to go upstairs as it was very busy, but no further guidance was given. I had to ask them to point to a table for 1 and was seated a large table in the far back corner. The table was eventually divided as some other hungry eaters came along. I decide on some Chicken Biryani, willing to try it here. After a little wait, I was given a plate with a spoon and fork but no knife or napkin / Serviette. The guests next to me were given plenty of napkins so later on I had to ask for a few. Not too much later I get served my Chicken Biryani and soon after cams my papa dams. The rice tasted well cooked and so was the chicken. I felt encouraged to eat the chicken with my fingers as I saw others doing so. Overall I would say the food is good and well cooked but I came at a somewhat busy time. My total was $9.00 exact, $1.50 for a canned drink, $6.50 for the Biryani and an extra $1 for the papadams. Hope this review was helpful, I hope to back in future 😀.

We went to eat multapa, which is said to be an Arab Middle Eastern pizza. More people were eating biryani. The amount is so large that the two of us shared it. It is located behind the Sultan Mosque and you can stop by for sightseeing. The first floor was crowded and when I was leaving, the clerk told me that the second floor was empty. It's messy, but it's clean. The taste didn't really suit us. But it was a memorial.

Their chicken biryani comes in 2 types. The grilled dried version as well as the curry version. I had the grilled version and was not disappointed. The waiter that served us was quite friendly and was patient with us to explain their selections. This was despite being 2nd day of CNY with lots of tourists swarming around.
