Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had the $25++ weekday set which had 2 cuts of beef (about 10 slices?), miso soup, kimchi and rice. Topped up $1 to add seaweed in the rice. The bbq coals were smokeless. Food was fresh, value for money.

Excellent service staff, food was served fast and furious. Will come back to this branch again. The Wagyu buffet is a great selection, even the normal cuts and side dishes were delicous.

Gyu-Kaku is always outstanding. They maintain a very high standard that never drops. The meat is excellent quality, variety of their menu is outstanding and service is always solid. The food also comes out quickly and most importantly is delicious. If you are looking for authentic Japanese Yakiniku, this is the go to place!

Gyu Kaku's best seller is purportedly beef yet every single cut of the beef contained so much elastin that it is hard to chew and even harder to swallow. Most of the options, particularly the beef tongue and pork jowl, were not sliced the right way or to the right thickness where you can enjoy. Chewing and spitting almost all the meat during the meal was certainly not what I had in mind when I made the reservation. The birthday special dessert was truly an abomination, don't bother ordering even if it is your birthday. Moving on to the service quality, our main wait staff was Jessy. Since we were first timers at the restaurant, we asked her about their ordering procedure. Her tone was curt and she did not introduce the menu properly. While taking our orders, from where she stood, she was looking at us with a side-eye, chin tilted up and impatiently shifting her feet. Her attitude did not improve throughout our meal. The vibe she gave off was that this job was below her. Safe to say, I will not be returning.

I made a reservation for a birthday celebration. We ordered a wagyu set ala carte for the special occasion but to only realize our food came without the supposedly pairing sauces some time into our meal. The staff were uncertain and lost when we checked with them and poor communications and attentiveness from all the service staff. Although the dinner was booked for birthday celebration. the staff did not take the initiative to check or serve the ushii-kun icecream (for birthdays) till i asked. When the icecream came, it was no ushii-kun (icecream + pudding) but a seemingly cheap icecream scooped from a tub bought from in the supermarket. Overall, it was a very very underwhelming experience. Not worth it! For the value, you can find somewhere else to dine.

The staffs is really slow in respond. the app to order and to ask for service didnt really work. cause i still need to wave my hand at staff that saw me and walk away. 1st 2 serving of buffet beef is good but the next 2 serving of beef have alot of veins that is so difficult to bite. Gyu kaku can have higher standard on meat serve being constant and not trimmings.

Not kid friendly price wise. On their menu they state that you can request for kids price for kid below 12 dining with adult. When I wanted to pay, they said that kid price only applies to people below 130cm. My son is 11 ( I had his proof of age with me) and he is tall at 140cm. They said he didn’t qualify for kids price cos he’s too tall!!!!! That’s ridiculous discrimination. And also they did not abide by their own rules clearly printed on their menu.

Make the reservations in the morning for lunch before the restaurant was open. When we arrived, restaurant has already prepared the table for us.

Portion size for buffet used to be better, ice cream used to be free flow as well for buffet. But not anymore.

My friends and i enjoyed the different cuts of Japanese Wagyu from the buffet. Waitress serving us was attentive and offered to change out the grill mesh several times during our meals

Service was good and prompt. F&B serving team very energetic and pleasant while serving. Meat quality was of normal standard as those served in local butchery. Pricing wise a bit on expensive side due to the high service charge imposed. But overall experience is good.

Geylang
Only a short journey from Singapore’s sparkling and polished city centre, Geylang is a world away. Here in one of the least touristy areas of Singapore, visitors are privy to an unfiltered glimpse of Singapore life. On Sunday afternoons, migrant workers gather in Geylang to let off steam after a tough week. At the eastern end of Geylang Road, families and friends happily enjoy picnics. By contrast, at the western end, a more colourful side of Singapore can be seen, as street workers mingle with Sunday revelers in outdoor coffee shops. Take a friend, grab a beer and a local meal (frog porridge, perhaps?), and settle in to enjoy the show.
