Twenty years ago while staying in Hong Kong my wife and I had the pleasure of eating at The Swiss Chalet. We ended a cruise in Hong Kong this November and stayed a few extra days to do a little sightseeing. I had done a...little research before leaving on the cruise and found that there a Swiss Chalet restaurant in business there and it was near the Hong Kong Sheraton we were staying in. The hotel gave me directions and it was within walking distance. The neighbor and restaurant entrance looked a little different from what I remembered, but it was 20 years. We ventured inside and found that some of the decor seemed the same but still different. A gentlemen came over and after talking for a few minutes told us they had been in business for over 20 years but had moved from the building next door a few years prior. The menu looked good so we returned the next evening for dinner. Service was good and not rushed. My wife had the Veal Cordon Bleu and I had the Osso Bucco. We agreed that both our meals were very good with the meat tender and juicy. Prices were reasonable. We would return to eat here if in Hong Kong again.More

Having last visited the Swiss Chalet in October 2004, my mother and I decided to go there, her for the first time. We were greeted by owner Max on our arrival and the food we chose - schnitzel with veal - was fabulous. Highly recommended

If you want decent Swiss cuisine do no more search. Reasonably priced (for HK) and authentic dishes. Make sure you try some of the Swiss specialty drinks.

Location and decor great, nice atmosphere, staff were ok, food was interesting. A little heavy for my party's palate but flavourful nonetheless. Particularly liked the spinach/cheese fondue which was less rich compared to the traditional cheese and bread.

New location two doors from the old. A well need up grade. A nice location with a bar that looks cool. We took this time a set menu, small portion of raclet and Iberian pork shop together with Spainish full body wine. Food very good...taste, I simply love their gravies made of a cream base. Wine was good they have a wine list nicely priced if you don’t want to spend a lot on something fancy. Everyone enjoyed , congrats the the up grade GO THERE!More

Great place for dinner in Kowloon. They serve great fondue and a variety of schnitzels. The beer selection is very good too.

We met friends for Sunday lunch at Swiss Chalet. A nice restaurant hidden in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. AMBIENCE It has the classical swiss chalet deco that seems to be stuck a bit in the 70's but i suppose it adds to the...feel and vibe of the wooden chalet scene. FOOD We ordered a few starters and fondue dishes that were very tasty, the waitresses asked us if we wanted additional bread, which the promptly brought over. We had a few plates of schnitzel that were very tasty as well. Overall the food was good and in good portions. SERVICE The staff were very polite and they brought out the food at a good pace. Good service.More

I really wanted to have a cheese fondue that night and ended up eating a less than supermarket level fondue (the ones that don't contain real cheese). We also were welcomed by a man (manager?) scolding two employees, which is not acceptable. The decorations of...the restaurant is however good.More

The first thing I noticed was the change in decore. Previously the tables were of lighter coloured wood, and it looked more traditional vs the darker tables. Now I see from another reviewer that they moved location on the same street, which I suppose can't...be helped. Gordon, however, was his usual helpful self, guiding his younger staff to be attentive and offer more bread for the Fondue. The cheese and mushroom Fondue was lovely, but the quantity in the pot was not quite satisfying as before. We had two types of Fondue for four people, and one pot was considerably less full than the other although each type was ordered for two. Overall, we enjoyed the Fondue and Swiss Chalet experience even though it didn't seem quite at it's previous best that night. It's been here in Hart Avenue for years, providing a quality dining experience, so I'm fully confident that the owner, who is Swiss, will take the constructive feedback on board. We'll be back to see!More
