Not my food at all. The peanuts were the best part of the meal. The crab fried rice average. The rest forget about it. Did not like it a bit. The steamed broccoli with garlic among the worst ever ate in Hkg. I still feel very sorry we ate there.

One of the good authentic Shanghai chef who can cook up tasty and good Shanghai food in the middle of Cantonese Hong Kong. Certainly for those who have enough of Cantonese and like to try Shanghais

This is a traditional restaurant serving a wide range of Shang Hai cuisine. It deserves 3.5 out of five, for some of its dishes are excellent (for example the drunken chicken) while others are just standard fare. The service is very attentive, and for those in Hong Kong who long for food from further north it is an excellent choice.

I have eaten lunch at this restaurant on several occasions, partly because of its location under the hotel where i normally stay, but also because the food is excellent. As mentioned the drunken chicken is fabulous, always end up ordering an extra helping of this. But everything else is also very good, steamed fish, dumplings and so on. It's normally... More

When my family and I got caught in the rain , in the middle of Wan Chai district , we sought refuge in the Novotel Hotel . We were very hungry already so we ate in Lao Shang HAI below the hotel lobby . Let me make it clear that they are not part of the Novotel Hotel but instead... More

They are considered a part of 5 star hotel. But it was pathetic. We ordered from the menu for the roast Pekin duck. What we got was the dish of fried duck skin only ! Staff were arrogant and did not speak English. Total wate of money.

This is the same style of chinese restaurant I would visit on my last trip to HK in the 60's. The very best of food, served by highly experienced waiting staff and mainly populated by locals Marvelous

Highly recommend the smoked chicken 燻雞and the pancake葱油餅. Must save room for the crunchy crispy caramelized bananas.

This was one of our favourites when we lived in HK, and it was closed for renovation when we left. 2 1/2 years later i am pleased to say it looks exactly the same, the staff are the same and the menu is the same. It deserves to be better known, and the menu is somewhat broader than the name... More

We were a large group, so let me stick to that: Efficient and friendly service, good food and a pleasant environment, despite the fact that the restaurant is below ground. Easy to get to and from by both taxi and public transportation.

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
