Our tour guide brought us to this restaurant we were the only Americans in the restaurant for lunch. The food especially the dim sum was extremely tasty and we feel this was more authentic than most of the touristy area restaurants. The BBQ sticking bun was exceptional. The chicken feet was extremely unique.

We went for lunch on a weekend and had to queue for about 10-15 mins. This was fine because the food was very good and reasonably priced. Service was way better than I expected given that it was packed to the rafters. Good dim sum. Also went back in evening and had a more extensive menu selection plays a great... More

The restaurant was extremely busy at lunchtime, primarily with local chinese patrons. They provided an English menu which had about 15- 20 dim sum selections, either steamed or deep fried. You simply check off what you want and how many and present that to the waitress. Looking around at dishes being served to other tables, as well as noticing the... More

Always liked coming to Fung Shing for dim sum breakfast especially if I am going Macau as it is really near to the Ferry Terminal. Had found the food there to be value for money and nice. A lot of locals have breakfast here too. The prawn dumpling is bursting with shrimps, by far the biggest fillings I had tried.... More

We had dinner at Fung Shing restaurant for 2 nights. Our friends from Hong Kong treated us to a lovely dinner the night we arrived. I loved the olive pork ribs so much we went back for dinner again another night and ordered the same dish. The prawns are also very fresh and delicious.

Must try - Deep fried prawn fritters, har gow and chee cheong fun with prawns. The prawns used in the above dimsum were incredibly plump and juicy, which is testimony of their freshness. Prices were reasonable too. As I cannot speak Cantonese well, I really appreciate the fact that I could tick off my order from a physical order chit,... More

Fifteen of us had lunch here this Monday, ordering a wide variety of dim sum dishes - including traditional classics like sui mai, beef dumplings, steamed chicken feet, hau kau, etc. In addition the Hainese chicken was just excellent, as was the fried mein with mushrooms, and fried cuttlefish cakes. A large bustling restaurant above the Whampoa bus station, this... More

Had a family dinner at the Whampoa branch with 10 of us last Friday night (having eaten here previously and being impressed). We tried the set dinner with three added dishes - all were good traditional Cantonese cooking. The sharks fin soup was tasty, the whole fried chicken really good, as was the stuffed fish. Prawns and pork ribs very... More

My wife and I spent several glorious days in Hong Kong Feb 27 to March 4, 2010. We are from Toronto that boasts many of the best dim sum restuarants in Canada. Our goal was to seek out the best in Hong Kong. We enjoyed fantastic dim sum at Maxim's Palace at City Hall - the food was excellent served... More

Staying in Sheung Wan

Neighbourhood Profile
Sheung Wan
Unlike most of Hong Kong’s other popular districts, Sheung Wan welcomes wanderers with an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere. Art galleries are plentiful and boutique cafés are tucked away in every side street in the sub district known as “PoHo.” Browse through the vintage clothing and handmade leather goods stores – it’s no surprise fashionistas flock to this area. History enthusiasts will be rewarded with sites of beautiful architecture, reflecting Sheung Wan’s past as one of the earliest settlements by British forces. As night falls, the entertainment scene reveals itself to be just as laid back with its private kitchens, speakeasies and underground bars dotted throughout the area. When in Sheung Wan, everyday feels like the weekend.
