NINETYs has an aesthetic modern vibe suited for the Instagram-driven millenial (I say this in the most positive way possible). Although I liked how you're given a choice between a fruity blend or chocolatey blend, my fruity blend Iced Latte was not executed well. The espresso itself was extremely watery and under-extracted. In terms of food, it was delicious, but portion sizes were too small and prices were too high.

I’d meant to try the food of NINETYs, which isn’t far from where I live, for quite some time.
The restaurant currently offers 50% off (both food and beverages) for dinner on Friday and Saturday. I managed to book a table for 2 for the 20:00 time slot.
We shared a few things. The cuttlefish sliders were interesting. The pasta with truffle cream was nice. The fries and the tofu cheesecake were delicious too.
The staff said they couldn’t serve alcohol though they didn’t explain to me very clearly the reason therefor. So, I only had a mocktail.

I ordered the char siu benedict on that day. When the waiter brought the dish, I was genuinely shocked. I never expected the portion to be so big. And it turned out to be a bit different from what I had imagined. I thought the char siu would be like the kind you get at a regular BBQ meat shop, but it turned out to be their own homemade char siu baby back ribs. The food is creative, and the combinations are well-suited. It brought me unexpected and delightful surprises on that day. 🥰

Not so cheap lunch created by short order chefs at new shop who haven’t heard of the concept of food pyramid.
Had the “Wagyu Burger Steak Rice” for lunch which was highly disappointing. Sat at the counter so saw this creation being created.
Wagyu rissole flat and hard and about the size of the bottom of a coffee cup. 1/2 an
egg, and some peaflower tendrils and some flower petals. Sitting on a huge bed of white rice. Zero salad or greens when I asked if there was something still to come.

NINETYs
🦞Lobster Benedict $178 -
🥑Avocado Toast $118 -

-
👉🏻NINETY Plus Section☕️💲98
👉🏻Honeybush☕️💲58
-light, nectar, honey🍯
👉🏻Salmon Pasta (New✨)🍝💲188
- salmon confit, salmon rows, squid ink tuile, spring onion, bucatini, lemon zest cream sauce
👉🏻Sweet Potato Cake with Chicken Thighs (New✨)🍠🐔💲158
- purple sweet potato, grilled sous vide chicken thigh, eggs, sesame, spring onion

Ever since this place opened, I have been wanting to try it because of the donut toast!Went here for dinner as it wasn't very busy.
For the mains, I ended up choosing two salmon dishes because one was like the best tartare ever and the other was my favourite slow cooked salmon.
The best tartare ever was fun because you have to mix everything up and eat it with the bread.
The crispy bread really made a difference because I loved the chewy apricot pieces which gave it sweetness.
The slow cooked salmon was perfectly executed as it was silky and soft which paired nicely with the tangy sweet potato puree.
Unfortunately, I had to leave some room for the donut or I would have ordered the avocado tempura as well.
Finished with the long anticipated donut which was interesting but I couldn't taste the yoghurt despite the face that it was made with yoghurt.
Saying that, the donut could possibly taste nice if it was paired with just yoghurt or whipped cream.
Anyway, curiosity killed the cat for the donut.

This is the best place in HK for coffee afficionados and barristas. True attempt to match beans and palates/season.

NINETYs is a locally owned and operated bistro dishing up Australian-Asian fusion cuisine at their two restaurants in Hong Kong. The original restaurant is on Queen's Road East in Wanchai while their second place is found in Soho District in Central. Opening hours are 8am to 6pm (Mon-Thurs), 8am to 10pm (Fri & Sat) and 8:30-6pm (Sun).
They have a small but nice indoor dining environs with tables fairly tightly packed together. NINETYs can also have food delivered to you if you prefer to eat from within the comfort of your home, office or area hotel.
Recently, I ordered the Piggy Piggy sandwich which was delivered in 38 minutes. In the past, they used slow-cooked Iberico pork for the Piggy-Piggy. Now, the sandwich is made with Okinawa based pork that while nice isn't as memorable as the Iberico pork. Same beet root, tarty apple slices and kale make up the good combination of toppings for the Piggy-Piggy. Still a very good order but less impressionable than what I found in the past.
Still worth giving NINETYs in Wanchai or Soho, they are good little operation worth supporting if you are looking for restaurants to try in Hong Kong right now.

▪️Flat White $42
▪️Piggy Piggy $168
▪️Pork Egg Benedict $138
▪️Siu Wan Rice $158
▪️Cheesecake toast $98
▪️Granola Mixed Berries Yogurt $78
▪️Passionfruit Salmon Tartare $168

Iberico Pork|$188
12 hours slow-cooked tendor Spanish Iberico pork with burdock, mushrooms and cucumbers.
-
A mouth-watering dish with very nice plating. The pork is so tender that you can actually feel the meat gradually melting in your mouth. Just a pity that the size of the dish is a little bit too small ... don’t expect that it can fully fill your stomach.

Wagyu Flank Rice.
Wagyu Flank Rice

My first visit to Ninety’s for breakfast - I arrived at 8am to find out that cooked food service only started at 8:30 - why would you have this concept, it’s a super competitive market in Wan Chai make your self stand apart.
Decor overall nice: it’s industrial modern but doesn’t mean it needs to be dirty, light bulbs either missing or not illuminated, menu’s grubby and turned corners and stains on them table and chairs with nicks out of them. Open kitchen looked super cluttered extra fans paper towels just messy. I sat next to the air purifier is disgusting and a shelf that hadn’t been dusted in a long time.
Staff and Service: Initial thoughts stand-off ish and almost rude when asked about the food not starting until 08:30 didn’t really warm up though breakfast.
Quality of food and coffee:
Food: chilli scrambled eggs, too much red onion and soggy bread
Coffee: ordered the black: coco flavoured still very fruity.
Would I come back or recommend it : No not worth it.
Overall very disappointed. Not sure how the reviews are so high online media and reviews.

A local cafe professional in coffee and simple western dish. We like the avocado toast very much. But the lobster egg Benedict was not as expected.... anyway it was just us not familiar with the menu and the item is not to our liking.... the coffee is one of the best that I’ve ever tasted. Service is efficient and friendly. Staff are professional in knowing their menu and give recommendations. We will definitely come back again and try some other thing else.

Decor and staff were great. Food presentation was lovely. Food was rich and tasty. The coffee was great.
I ordered the cha siu rice. There were three pieces of pork, buttery scrambled egg, and rice. In a side dish was cherry tomatoes, and in another, cut up asparagus. The utensils (fork and spoon) were abnormally long and big. The bowl of rice was small but deep. I had to place the pork into the side dish to stab and bite. No knife was provided. I suppose I could have asked for one, but there was no space to cut it.
$209 for coffee and rice.

Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
