Popped in here on a spur of the moment decision as we were a bit hungry and cold. The restaurant wasn't warm and sadly, one of the staff was taking deliveries and just left the front door open with the cold wind blowing in. Staff seemed disinterested and wanted to get our order as soon as possible rather than allowing... More

This was a recommended restaurant from my husband's HK Japanese guidebook. I love Szechuan (Sichuan) food so we went here for my birthday dinner. The moment we stepped through the door I was regretting my choice. There was just something off with the staff, they weren't rude but not welcoming either. It also felt very touristy with the tables of... More

I came here 28 years ago and thought I would take my son. It was the best meal so far , quotes my son. As a foodie he looks for stimulating tastes and we certainly had some here. The chilli sizzling prawns were huge and full of flavour. The green beans with mince were crisp and colourful. Staff very attentive,... More

The Red Pepper has been a firm family favourite for over 30 years, and when ever I am in HK come hell or high water will get to the Red Pepper - it is famous for the sizzling prawns, everyone has them and they are huge and succulent. Other favourites are the dry fried stringbeans, the hot garlic aubergine and... More

I know this place for several years and I am always happy when I can go back there. The food is super, service is like always very nice and price is ok too. Sometimes a bit noisy but ok. The suggestions are also always very good!

we have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years once a year for a company get together in HK . wE use to love the place but i think some of the old charm has gone. the staff are no longer the fun people of old and some of the old men should find a new gig. the... More

Not as good as last time I visited in 2014 and maybe in danger of becoming a parody of itself and a tourist trap. Very expensive food (£110) for what we had which was the small portion of sizzling prawns, chicken & cashew nuts, rice, two large Tsingtao beers and the obligatory starting snacks and chinese tea. A very dear... More

Fabulous……had diced chicken, peppers, cashews…….as well as chicken fried rice. This is an adult restaurant. No unbathed backpackers, please. No NGO zealots, please. It is expensive…..and you cannot get a seat sometimes. I think they have the right formula……… Five-star food.....Five-star service

Invited here by a HK resident who has been eating here for 30 years. Excellent chilli prawns, good veg dishes and chicken dishes really tasty too. Nice atmosphere if you are here in a group and sharing dishes. Very much enjoyed my meal.

This place has been here for decades and is never disappointing. Make sure to call ahead as it's often very full. Solid Sichuan and other Chinese dishes. Very western accessible menu. Order the sizzling prawns!
