Dined at Capo (Sai Ying Pun, Midlevels, HK) for the first, and last time (2 people); it was an unpleasant and threatening experience. There were 3 other tables of lunch guests in the whole restaurant at 1 pm. After seeing 2 people at the nearest...table sharing a 12-inch pizza, we ordered a pizza to share but the server said the minimum order is 2 dishes so add something like another pizza or pasta. We started saying we couldn't eat two pizzas but the server just walked away (we thought we heard "You can leave", but gave the benefit of the doubt whether this meant leave the uneaten food or leave the premises.) We noticed the next table were sharing a salad with their pizza. After 10 minutes without seeing the server, we signaled to the server to return and asked if ordering a salad or dessert could be allowed as dish 2 because we were going to order dessert anyway. The server said it was allowed, so we ordered a pizza and tiramisu. After we finished the pizza, the server suddenly said we were lucky to get served because they don't serve arrogant customers. We said we didn't know that saying not being able to finish two pizzas was arrogant. We apologised and said we were sincerely grateful for giving special permission for dessert to be counted as dish 2. The reply was: I am the owner. Don't come back, we don't serve arrogant customers like you. We said we didn't understand this reaction but please could we have the dessert. After dessert when we asked for the bill, the server repeated that customers should be clear about the 2-dish policy or can leave. We again expressed thanks that we were permitted to share a pizza and dessert, and the policy itself was not a problem; if pressed to order 2 mains, we would have simply asked to take the extra food home, as we just wanted to try the restaurant's food for the first time. But the server replied that just because it's the pandemic, customers shouldn't be arrogant, so please don't ever return. We felt extremely confused, uncomfortable, upset and unsafe, so we said thank you very much and gave a $20 tip for not ordering 2 mains, and we left as quickly as possible. We will not be returning to this restaurant or restaurant group, both out of our choice from the horrible experience (food included: the pizza was soggy in the middle and had 2 inches perimeter of dry plain crust, and the tiramisu tasted mostly of plain cream, but we did not disclose this and said the food was fine) and because it seems the owner banned us for not ordering two pizzas.More
