Had passed this restaurant a few times as we were staying in the Hutong area, as we could not see inside from the entrance, decided to have a walk in and peep. Was welcomed by a polite young lady who spoke good English and gave us a translation of what was available on the menu. The food was out of... More

Very good place to eat american style food, very delicious breakfasts, fresh salads and sandwiches. I recommend this place to anyone that needs to feel like home some times out there in the excentric Beijing.

OK, so it isn't like your Grandma's cooking but nothing in Beijing really is. I lived there for several years and this place was a five minute walk from my apartment and it felt as close to the US as anything. They had real American breakfast and meatloaf and I had to make a monthly journey just to maintain my... More

If you are hankering for a Southern Fried Chicken breakfast, this is the place to go. Be sure to ask for extra gravy.

First of all, I just wanted to point out that Tungting who wrote the review below this one was clearly reviewing some other restaurant since Grandma's is not normally that busy, there is no free tea, and they don't serve Chinese dishes. Where ever he was sounds delicious though. Anyway - my sweetie and I went to Grandma's for lunch... More

We were lucky when we were brought to this place by our guide, we didn't need to wait to get a table. We were told that normally this place is very busy. Tea is available for free at the reception. Menu is in Chinese, but menu in English with pictures (it looks more like a magazine!) is also available for... More

Grandma's Kitchen doesn't look like much from the outside or inside..It is just like an old diner from the heyday of Route 66. But when you are craving American food like a burger, pancakes, french toast, etc, go to Grandma's. Menus are in English and Chinese and while the waitresses don't speak English it is easy to point to what... More

Tired of rice and noodles, and looking for some comfort food for breakfast, we took the subway to Grandma's Kitchen on Xiushiu Street (easy half block from Jianguomen station) and weren't disappointed. For 55 RMB, about $10 CDN, we both had a breakfast skillet - 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, red and green peppers, onions and toast (choice of white or... More

conceptualize : Grandma is seriously wounded having fought off the vicious attacks of the big bad wolf . Whilst knitting you a new cardigan she gets her badly arthritic hands knotted up in yarns of wool. Some scaramouch immediately teleports her into a restaurant kitchen and has her cook for 100 people. if you are sufficiently inventive to visualize how... More
