Good duck but the quote on Loney Planet, although dated, certainly drove up prices. There are other restaurants where you can enjoy duck at more popular prices and less dive. The waiter spitting at every two by three in the sink was not the best, and I hate to give it four stars because the food was good anyway. But they must tell me where the two legs of my duck went

We visited at 6pm and it was half full, by 615 people were lined up out the door. Service was immediate and friendly, cheap ice cold beer and wine. We had the 2 person set and my wife and I can eat and it beat us. But staff were happy to pack it up for us amd even gave a nice bag to carry it in. All up 530RMB which by Australian standards is super cheap. I highly recommend this quirky yet genuine restaurant. A bonus shout out from the Mrs for having a Western Toilet nearby too.

At first you arrive in front of this place that really doesn't inspire you! But once the food is on the table, it became much more appreciable and it was delicious! I recommend!

TLDR: Absolutely terrible experience. Wouldn't recommend my worst enemy in a million years, not even if my life depended on it! After a really nice Chinese Valentine's Day, we came here at the end of the day, since I read about this place before, and wanted to try it, and we were close by. Well, worst decision ever. Once we sat down, the waiter, some twenty-something-year old guy immediately sstarted pushing the Peking duck without letting us even take a look at the menu. Understandable if you're into aggressive advertisement and all that, but we wanted to have a look at the menu anyway. The duck seemed overpriced (we live in Beijing, so we've had plenty of duck before, in nicer places for lower prices), so we decided to go for other dishes. Once we ordered these, we indicated we'd like to have some rice with them, but at this point, the waiter tells us: "We specialize in roasted duck, so we don't have rice. Everyone comes here to eat duck, and therefore we don't have rice." Now hold on. Firstly, what self-respecting restaurant puts rice on the menu just so they can say they don't have it? What else is the customer supposed to choose to accompany the dishes (if they haven't ordered the duck)? Noodle soup? Stir-fried shredded pancakes? The mini-pancakes that normally come with Beijing duck? Because these were the only other viable options... To add to the insult, this guy assumes we're tourists (which we're not, we've been in Beijing a good number of years already) and tries to tell us that it is very common that a duck restuarant does not have rice, and that this is how it's done in Beijing??? What an absolute joke... Just don't put any other options on the menu, especially not rice, if you're unable or unwilling to provide it because you want to coerce every customer into ordering your overpriced mediocre roasted duck, and then we wouldn't have been having this discussion at all.. At this point we should have just left, but since we were hungry and it was rather late, we decided to stay and give it a chance, maybe the service was awful, but the food would be worth it? Second-worst decision ever. We finally went with: - the deep-fried duck bones, which were supposed to be flavored with Szechuan pepper salt, but they probably forgot the Szechuan pepepr, because all we could taste was salt. - the duck feet with mustard, which may have been the best part of our dinner at this place. - a random mixture of duck gizzards, duck wings, bell peppers and bamboo shoots. The gizzards were sweet (WHY?!), the wings were so tough we couldn't even get meat off of the bone, and the bamboo shoots were weirdly sour, which indicated to me that they either had gone bad, or had been canned for a long time. Only the bell peppers were edible. - the stir-friend shredded pancakes as a substitute for rice. Which I could've done better myself even if I'd be having a bad day. In conclusion, don't come here to spend your hard-earned money, unless you're looking to get disappointed by rude, disrespectful service and sub-par food against inflated prices. We made this mistake now so you don't have to in the future.

We have been eating Peking Duck for several times in Singapore and today on 21st Dec afternoon at 3pm , my boyfriend and I , we decided to try one of the most famous Peking duck at Li Qun in China Beijing . First of all , I didn’t like the location of the restaurant . The so call original Peking duck was pricy and the food there aren’t good enough , service and value were completely poor . Very inexperienced and rude waiter as we were been treated as beggar instead of customer. Food wise the pancake is not hot, duck is pretty salty. Sauce is really mediocre, I just taste normal saltiness no fragrance whatsoever. The price of the duck is rmb $270 which is not worth at all. Go to any restaurant in Beijing you probably will be able to get something decent for $100? (We saw a restaurant selling $56 for a set not a whole duck but looks decent). Although Li Qun is a famous brand for Peking Duck especially in China for centuries. I would say the restaurant doesn't deserve the name. We for sure is not a returning customer.

Really enjoyed the fatty duck with a crispy skin here! We ordered the set for 2 pax, but I think it could’ve fed at least 3 pax (see photo).

This tucked away restaurant was a good recommendation for authentic Peking Duck! Be prepared for cramped quarters though and a very rustic ambience. Also a good idea to bring cash as not all foreign credit cards are accepted. We ordered duck two ways. The duck was served literally seconds after our order. It was seriously good! A couple can certainly consume one duck two ways but little else! Would definitely go again!!

We arrived early thanks to reviews on Tripadvisor. We were seated promptly, and I noticed that there was only one other party of seeming "non-locals." This seems like the Peking Duck place the locals go to. Great reason to have high hopes. There is nothing fancy about the place, but we did not come for the decor. The duck was fantastic, and when one of the hostesses noticed that we were inexpert in "the way" to eat Peking Duck, she came over and offered to give directions. We were happy to get "schooled." She patiently showed and described that we were to take one piece of duck, dip it in the hoisin sauce, and then use it as a paintbrush to coat one half of the pancake, then add the piece, several other pieces, and showed us what to add, how to wrap, and how to use the cucumber as a palate-cleanser. The duck was rich and fatty, very well cooked. What a great experience. When we left, we saw that we were right to come early. There was a huge line all the way out the door.

Definitely worth the try! Long queue after 6pm usually and dining time is 45 min per table/pax. More than enough time, don't worry! Go for the Chinese wine steamed duck liver instead of the kung pao duck liver. Let the bones be deep fried and dust with salt and pepper. So crunchy that you can eat the whole bone like chips! Dont forget to complete the meal with beers. Great companion! Go for their set meal. It's around rmb400++ only inclusive of beers. They have great side dishes too.

Delicious, mouth-watering perfectly roasted duck, hand-carved at your table and served with a complete assortment of vegetables and spices.

My wife and I went here for dinner on the first night of our Beijing visit. It was recommended by our son who spent time in Beijing few years ago. It's off the main road, but the side road you get out of the taxi can be a little tricky. Make sure the hotel concierge gives the address to the driver. It really isn't much to look at from the outside. The inside is very interesting to say the least. It certainly does not look like a "fine" dining room. But the duck is pretty darn good. I assume the price is high for Beijing, but compared to where we are from, seemed like a bargain. I recommend you have the duck left over after the carving deep fried. They charge you a minimal amount to do this. You will be full from the duck wrap, but have a piece or two of the fried duck. It is delicious.

Yes, they do Peking duck and yes, lots of celebrities have been there but there are plenty of places in Beijing that serve duck and a lot of them are much better. No point going out of your way to eat here.

Tucked in a quiet street south of Tiananmen this place may not appear very promising, yet the duck is to die for. The meat is tender and juicy and comes with the full show with the chef bringing the duck out on a tray and cutting it expertly on plates. Had a separate vegetarian auberigine dish which was equally exquisite!

I’ll keep it simple. The food is sub-par. The duck itself is fine. The service is just disgusting. I’ve never seen so many wait staff be so rude to so many different customers. I need a shower.
