You really need to try this place. Food (fish) and beverages were finger licking . This will always be my choice place when i stop by.

...I just saw a picture of the menu from another Traveller's pictures, and I realized we were grossly overcharged! The food was ok - people are raving about the Tilapia which looked really in nice person as well. The chicken dish was bony and quite sparse on the meat. The waitresses didn't seem so happy to serve us either.

After having tried to find it at an earlier visit to Nairobi I finally found it. And Mama Oliech delivered what I expected: truly authentic dishes, well prepared. Up till the side dishes (Sukumawiki!) it was perfect. Don't expect anything posh though.....

Ordered fried chicken because my friend is allergic to seafood. The chicken looked and tasted fossilized. Took forever to prep because we ordered fries for which we were told weren't ready. Okay. It's a potato. Slice and fry it and it will be done. Unbelievably awful. Any cook should be ashamed to serve such awful food. So should any waitress.... More

We stopped by this place due to its proximity to our hotel and reviews on Tripadvisor, and we are glad that we did. We were greeted by Kevin, the son of the owner who explained a bit about his mother's restaurant and their cooking philosophy. We both ordered the fried fish (Tilapia) with ugali. The portions were generous, especially for... More

When you first arrive, the restuarant seems underwhelming, most of the entrance is a car park, but once you are seated you get a sense of the atmosphere. I went on lunchtime on a weekday and the place was packed. Most of the customers were local Nairobi residents digging into the range of fresh fish dishes. The fish stews were... More

I am glad there's a place to go to, to get authentic Kenyan/African food. I have eaten here several times. The food is good. I love the deep fried whole fish. Friendly staff, decent ambience. For tourists, ugali (maize flour cooked in water to a cake texture) with tilapia fish (broiled, roasted, deep fried or sautéed) is a must try.

This is Nairobi's premier fish-eating spot. It is fresh, delicious, affordable and completely Kenyan style. This is where office workers might go for lunch and eat a full reasonably sized Tilapia (with head and tail), prepared as it would have been at the eating joints at the shores of Lake Victoria.
