The place offers cheap and tasty food at very reasonable prices. To ease pain with selecting dishes you can see them - and check what is available. They are extremely helpful. We got fried tilapia, goat meat with sauce, kale, chiapati and two local beers all for 2000KhS - all was very tasty & fresh Later coffee next doors at... More

Great way to sample Kenyan food with local people. VERY helpful staff. Excellent fried fish. Basic decor, but the prices are very reasonable so don't expect fancy! Outdoor courtyard seating was ok,

We were directed here by our hotel after asking the staff for somewhere with good local food - and we weren't disappointed! You arrive with plenty of Kenyans who look like they are on lunch break from work, so there is no touristy feeling. You order lunch at the counter and are seated by a waiter who takes care of... We walked over from our hotel to have dinner at Ranolo's for some Kenya food. We really wanted to try some local food. We ordered fried tilapia, fried goat, stewed meat, traditional greens, ugali ( brown and white), sodas, Tusker beer. We liked everything except for one of the greens that was very bitter. We probably ordered way too much... More

My first time in Nairobi, my tour guide said I should stop by Ranalo for good Kenyan food 'Ugali' to be precise. It was easy locating from my hotel and when I got there the waiter was very helpful. He showed me the options which are more around the protein, they had chicken, beef, rabbit and more also fish. The... More

We told our driver we wanted to have local food and he brought us to ranalo. This is the place the locals come, you order and pay first, then they serve you the food. We had fish, chicken and beef. The fish is good but not the chicken and beef. Too tough. Guide told us liver is supposed to be... More

Tasty local food, reasonably priced. There is a bar with live music joined to the restaurant which is great fun. The restaurant is a little confusing when you first arrive, you need to pay up front for what you want at the payment desk. The waiter spotted our confusion and was very helpful though. Great service.

Yummy chicken, ugali and sukuma wiki, all eaten in a friendly environment, with good music and accompanied by a Tusker, and chit-chat with friends = a lovely evening in Nairobi.
