The chairs are so so.. but be VERY careful about prices and doublecheck every item. E.g. Spaghetti is ok LE 25 ... The waiter mumbles 2 options.. you choose bolognaise, which doubles the price to European Levels .. With 15% added it gets to € 7 . Beer is not on the menu, but is on offer a can will... More

Stopped off here for, what we thought would be, a cold drink. My husband was offered a Stella, unusual for the area and he happily ordered one. I ordered a Fanta, both drinks took an age to come but gave time to take in the bizarre decor, tinsel and artificial Christmas tree. The drinks were cool at best so we declined... More

I picked this one because I was getting hungry and it was getting late. - Toughest piece of steak I've encountered in 26 countries. The rather sweet little pussycat who joined me seemed to enjoy it. In fairness they do great chips. The furniture has seen better days.

I went there for dinner, delicious food. The service is great, very good service. The food is very cheap in this restaurant.

We were served cans of beer after about 20 minutes which had obviously been (barely) chilled once we ordered them. Much needed after a night on the bus from Cairo, but pretty disappointing. Don't waste your time here, head down to the nice restaurants and pubs around Sonesta St George, which charge the same prices for genuinely cold Stella and... More

Okay, this is exactly what we got. We spent the whole day in the crazy markets haggling and bargaining and walking. It was hot, mid afternoon so we stopped here for a beer. The bonuses : the service was great. The location is amazing. It's a Zen garden with shade in the middle of a hectic zoo of a market.... More

Maybe the fact there's... More

The décor, that is. I couldn't take my eyes off an adjacent sunshade with a closed-up artificial Christmas tree fastened to the pole, and Christmas party hats randomly dangling from the parasol. Another sunshade had a child's swimming ring (inflated) secured to the top of the pole. Bizarre! Like something out of a psychedelic comedy. As for the food; well... More

On our first visit to the souk, we had takeaway falafel from a street stall and it was fantastic (and fantastically cheap). On our second we were hoping to do the same, but it was Friday and the market was very quiet. So we went to Chez Omar instead and sat in its lovely little courtyard garden bang in the... More
