A small group of us called in for a drink and warm up after being caught in a rain storm while at Khan el-Khalili. We were welcomed at the door, again inside and the waiters were prompt and friendly. While we only stayed for a...hot drink, there was a full and appetising menu available all at very reasonable prices. Situated inside Khan el Khalili,it's must visit to experience some good food and real Cairo experience,it's also and historical place,one of the oldest in Cairo and also associated with Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz. They have 3 area,the one which come 1st have minimum charge of...EGP 500 for couple during evening but it's worth,they have live Egyptian music.It was fun seating in a cramped area,,having some Egyptian/Arabian snacks with mochtails, Smoking Shisha and enjoying music.Foods are good also loved the mint tea.More

The nooks & crannies of this popular eatery are mirrored, inlaid, smoky and evocative of the 19th century. Food is delicious & well-presented. Excellent aish baladi & dips for starters, and good mixed grill for main. Best were the desserts ... samplers of baklava, kataifi...and other sweet treats. Hookah in the bar was very cozy & authentic. Would be 5 circles except Service was slow & sorry.More

Even though this would appear to be operated by the Oberoi hotel group there is wonderful atmosphere in this bustling café in the bazzar of old Cairo. The interior rooms are beautifully presented. You may have trouble finding it but everyone will point you in...the right direction. We ate a light lunch ( I had koftas in bread)which was delicious. I would like to have returned for the dinner menu. Well worth the visit.More

Foods authentic, ambience is authentic and to top it all, Naguib Mahfouz is a regular here! The only downside is the feeling of being rushed through your meal. Maybe it is the busy tourist time of the year. Ah well, at least I can say...i have eaten to where the famous Egyptian author cum Nobel Laureate has been before :-)More

We were taken by our guide to Khan El Khal Lil shopping bazaar in Cairo and since it is lunch time, we went to this restaurant situated in the bazaar. Nice warm and comfortable restaurant which is named after the first Egyptian Nobel Prize winner....Quite a good mix of locals and tourists, so you could not really go wrong. Food was good generally. Order their lemon mint drink - it was tasty and refreshing. Can't really complain about anything except for the smell of shi sha being smoked by some Arab ladies.More

Amazing little chaotic stop from an even more chaotic market. The service is slow, the food was ok and it’s loud = perfect. There is sheisha smoked inside (as is the norm in Egypt) but we just stayed away and we were fine. We also...stopped here 10 years ago and it is exactly the same.More
