Long queue as we went in weekend, waited for more than an hour to get a table. However, it's worth waiting as the chicken was tasty, juicy and tender. Soup was delicious and noodles was good. The only drawback was that the tables are very...close to each other and you won't be able to sit comfortably especially for a group of 4. Luckily there was only two of us and we've got a table next to the window. But what can we expect as the price is so cheap !More

CY ( 22.10.31 ) My wife and I visited this restaurant for dinner with chicken food. The restaurant was located in Chicken street near Dongdaemun, and there was one of chicken specialty restaurant. There was many people crowded, and we ordered chicken food. The food...was delicious, and the price was good. Though the food was good, but I wonder why I wait for this food. It was worth to try.More

A colleague of mine dragged me around the neighborhood trying to find this place and I was annoyed at the time, but SO GLAD after the fact because I have been dreaming about this meal ever since. I am a huge fan of simple, clean...meals. This is just that. Chicken, green onion, garlic, maybe a couple other things. The mustard/vinegar sauce is unique and definitely added a delicious touch to the simple chicken soup boiling in front of us. We don't speak Korean and still managed to order okay. We ended up staying sipping the soup and eating the delicious chicken for a good couple hours. It was such a nice evening not being rushed, just taking our time and enjoying the company and the delicious food, how every meal should be! I definitely recommend this spot!More

Highly recommended by a friend, so came here for dinner on a recent trip to Seoul. Although there was a long queue outside, we didn’t have to wait very long, maybe 20 minutes. While waiting, I was trying to figure out how to order using...Google Translate, but the translation didn’t make sense. Once you are seated, what looks a like a wash basin with a whole small chicken, in a broth with some potatoes and spring onion is placed on the gas cooker at your table, without having ordering anything. Okay, there was really efficient!! A minute later, a worker comes and deftly cuts up the chicken into bite-size pieces with scissor and signals to me to put the garlic in later. He also points out where you can get kimchi and water. As the broth starts to boil, he comes again and signals to add in the garlic. Following the locals, we added the garlic, chili paste and kimchi and wait for the broth and chicken to cook. And then started to get our dipping sauce ready, which included some soy sauce, lots of chili paste, and some vinegar. You can add mustard if you like. I prefer without mustard. As the chicken was cooking, I thought it didn’t look like anything special but boy, was it yummy. A search online shows the restaurant uses fresh young chicken and one can taste the tenderness of the young chicken. After eating some chicken, you can order side of rice cakes, or potatoes or the noodles to add to the soup. Each table is only allowed 1 order of the noodles and it was gooddddd. Wash our chicken down with some makkeoli and soju!! Totally yummy. Came back for lunch again 3 days later :).More

This was my fifth time here. They always maintain certain quality. 2~3 people share a chicken. You can add Korean rice cake or noodles. Kimchi is next to the water machine, which can be added into the soup if you prefer.

This is veeeeeeeeeeery popular for foreign tourists. However, for locals like me, it's just a good homemade boiled chicken. - The location is in Dongdaemun Grilled Fish Alley. - There are several other restaurants also having dakhanmari(one whole chicken) in their names. So, don't be...confused if you are specifically aiming at this place. - It's a nice boiled chicken. Homemade style. I think this is just a taste of mother's boiled chicken in the house. Healthy feeling after eating. Everything else but food is nothing special. For foreign tourists, it's good to try once. But, I don't know how poor other chickens around. Maybe almost the same. - Services were just average. Employees were nothing special. - One whole chicken is 22,000 won. The portion is enough for two people. It's hard to say 'affordable' as other decent restaurants charge 7,000 ~ 10,000 won in Dongdaemun. Also, most people ordered additional side menus like rice, potatoes, tteok(rice cakes) or guksu(noodle). - It wasn't that crowded during weekday afternoon. We didn't wait to order. - I don't recommend visiting during summer. It was hot inside.More

They all taste pretty similar, so please walk into another restaurant and save yourself from harms way Quality of food = 3/5 Quality of service = -100000/5 The...expected wait time = 30mins ~ 1 hour Price = all the same I won't say any more. Before my trip, I craved for Samgehtang a lot. Until I have had tried this restaurant, I am completely in love with its original taste of chicken broth. 2 of us had finished the whole pot of soup and requested to add soup somemore. I...assume there isn’t much seasonings because I don’t feel thirsty after the meal. This restaurant has become my no.1 must-go in Seoul.More

The soup is clear. It could be bland for some. They used a whole chicken to boil the soup. The chicken was already half cooked and they put it in to continue cooking, thus more chicken essence would go into the soup. If you would...like, you could order rice or noodles to go with it. For my family of 3, we decided to just go with the whole chicken and soup which was sufficient for us. Surprisingly, the chicken was not dry despite boiling it non stop. Some koreans will put in kim chi to add flavour to it. However we did not because we could not take spicy food. Overall, experience was ok although it was overly crowded.More

Accidentally bump into this restaurant ard 3pm, since many people in this restaurant then get a try. Actually nothing special and no choice just to have a piece of whole chicken in a pot + some kimchi and rice cake cost 20,000 Won.

My third visit here and I think the standard has dropped over the years. Felt like they have added some MSG, always feel very thirsty after having a meal here. Ajumas working here mostly are from China if I'm not wrong as they can converse...well in mandarin , they will tend to make you order a lot. The pot already has a lot of potato and leek but they didn't tell us about it so we thought we need to pay for it this time. End up is she make us TOP up for more. So beware not to order the excess potato and leek unless u really think it's not enough in the pot. She make us order 4 chicken for 7 girls which I think is too much , girls don eat a lot so I suggest just order 3 chicken instead of 4.More

I was recommended this local gem by my hotel concierge. Not difficult to find with my phone gps and a picture of the shop’s signage provided by the concierge. Got there in the early evening just as the crowd was picking up, and we did...not have to queue for a table then. Service was very efficient, staff nicely offered to carry my baby pram up the stairs to place it in a corner out of the way (probably anticipating the queues that would form later) Food came quickly, and the chicken soup was a simple delicious meal. No frills, no fuss, pretty tasty. The chilli, vinegar, mustard and sauce combo was a great accompaniment to the chicken. There was free flow kimchi too. Meal came up to about 50k won, which was enough for 4 adults and 3 little kids (without alcohol). Recommend it if you want something different from the usual ginseng chicken soup.More

Jin Ok Hwa - the question you ask your friend Jin if she is Okay with this restaurant and you go in anyway making her say “wha?! *** **?!” This restaurant is off the beaten path in Dongdaemun. It is located near pubs and dark...alleys perfect for your own super hero origin if you’re traveling with your parents. But seriously this place is a hidden gem. The moment you find the place, it is packed with locals and tourists. They all come here for one thing- the chicken soup! Now, let me explain the soup.. or wait, you can never describe taste or maybe you can but I won’t tell you. You just have to find out for yourself when you’re in Korea.More
