We were shown to our own private dining room overlooking the beautifully lit temple next door. There was a very relaxing ambience created by the lighting and background music. Our set menu was amazing!! Each dish was creative and shared beautifully combined textures and taste appealing to all senses. Special thanks to our waitress Ms Nahae Park for her excellent... More

This is located on 5/f of the temple centre. I went for dinner and opted for the 45k menu. Great temple food with lots of small dishes bursting with flavours. All different kinds of kimchi were good - was particular impressed by the coriander kimchi. I think Sanchon has more dishes in the meal with more varieties of wild vegetables... More

I was puzzled by the reviews before I went to Seoul. Rereading them, I presume that there are two separate restaurants run by the the Jongyesa Temple across the street. It sounds like there is a moderate priced one on the second floor, perhaps with a buffet. I did not see it. We went for dinner and only the restaurant... More

I dined here for a business dinner with veg and non vegetarian people alike - outstanding service, delicious food, very clean and modern environment. The restaurant is BYOB, FYI. It's a bit tricky to find as it is upstairs and you have to take an elevator. Definitely would come back again - the vegetarians loved being able to partake in... More

I am a vegan and this was my first time having Korean vegan food. The set menu comes with buffet "appetiser" and a hot main course and is a bargain! I chose "chenggukjang" which is a fermented bean stew. It has a rather unique taste with a strong flavour. The buffet has a variety of fresh raw leafy vegetables, vegetarian... More

Excellent vegetarian option in seoul. This is in the temple district in Insadong. They mainly do set meals of various sizes. All ingredients fresh and very high quality

I want to give 6*. The food is delicious! I usually won't eat pickles or cold noodle. They serves them here and I finish everything. The pickle is really crunchy. The salad with fruit dressing is very nice too. It s authentic Korean food. I do recommend to give a try though you are not vegetarian. It s located near... More

My first experience of temple food (ignoring very basic food consumed at temples outside Korea). Went to the 5th floor restaurant where we had a little room to ourselves and were served a very generous five course meal by charming staff who explained everything simply. I was taken by a local Korean friend who says it her place of choice... More

I'm a part time vegetarian (certain days only) and when I travel I make it a point to try the local vegetarian food. Having tried another famous vegetarian restaurant (Sanchon) during my previous trip, I had high expectations for Balwoo which was more highly recommended. I was not disappointed. I read through some of the reviews here stating the blandness... More
