Despite eating in for two nights in a row we felt no urge to go elsewhere on the third night (this may not have been the case had it been four nights as we had pretty fully explored the menu after three). I like spicier food than Myanmar provides as standard but I was happy here. the breakfasts were also excellent with a truly full range of options.

We went there for afternoon tea, with sandwiches and cakes. Undoubtedly good, though I have had better in places like Ritz, Dorchester , and Claridges. However, Strand prices are not dissimilar . The ambience of the hotel restaurant was indeed grand, and totally different to the world outside. Customer service was the best, though it was to be expected .

The Strand Hotel is the old colonial hotel, now heavily restored. We booked for high tea, which was not cheap at 18USD. The ambience was lovely but the food could have been better. I suppose I am comparing with western kitchens, but in colonial times it would have been better.

I am 60 years old - an expat child and adult (45 years overseas) - so I have 'been around', so to speak. And when I experience a superb meal, and value, in an exquisite space, I recognise it. The Strand is sublime. Superb food - I had the 5 course with wine pairing option, a bargain at around $110. My teenage daughter loved the 4 course tasting option - around $45. Amazing food. Perfect service. Extraordinary classical space/room. What more can one demand ? Thank you ! Thank you Ramon and Beatrice, and of course the Chef and waiters !

We occasionally have our family dinners in here. Still one of the best but doubt last dinner around couple of month ago seemed better in taste.

Have a cocktail at Sharkies Bar before going for dinner to get you into the mood for some good old fashioned amazing service and style - We opted for the 5 course degustation menu with wine pairing, approx USD100 per head - FANTASTIC value for money, especially as they add 2-3 complimentary dishes - the quality and presentation was simply 1st Class - the service was attentive but no one hovering over you - The ambience of the restaurant was wonderful but could have been only slightly improved with the introduction of some subtle mood (background) music as the solitary sound of cutlery from time to time is a little odd ! This really is a first class restaurant for that special occasion!

I wish this restaurant were in Seattle. The ambiance is of the old British colonial style with all the elegance and privacy of the old days, and everything is perfectly restored and in top shape. The music is British and subtle in the background to give one a sense of regal grace. The service matches the ambiance giving one the feeling of being very special. That alone would be worth it but the food is also outstanding. The French cuisine prepared by chef Patrick Périé is as good as can be found anywhere. Chef Pene has experience from all over the world, including New Orleans giving him special creativity. Don't miss this experience but come dressed for the occasion so you can feel the part.

Its easy to write that this is a typical colonial restaurant. But I've never visit any colony. However, this is how I can imagine a colonia style restaurant. Just missing smell of cigars. Pros: - excellent menu for any taste - authentic environment - professional staff Cons: - not easy parking (but visiting such restaurant you expect to have your driver)

Yesterday we went to this fantastic restaurant. The French cuisine is amazing prepared by Chef Patrick Perie. We choose the five course set menu, it’s a travel within French mains flavour. From soup to beef passing through an amazing preparation of roquefort mousse. The wine list it’s at the level of the food. A must to go place in Yangon.

Last night 5 friends and I had a private degustation dinner at the Strand restaurant, prepared by chef Patrick. It really was a perfect evening. Thank you so much to the Strand and Patrick for arranging this, giving me another wonderful memory of Yangon. I thoroughly recommend trying this restaurant for dinner, or if you have enough people for a private party even better!
