Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Orovy means a nice resting place after a long journey, and this place is definitely that. On our self-drive around the island, and looking for somewhere to lunch we pulled up here. Its a bit tricky to see the driveway, but look for the sign...in Emua village on the highway, and about 200m down the dirt track (stick to the left) is this delightfully, clean little restaurant. We had the place to ourselves, so we rested up , had a swim and cold Tuskers, while we waited for lunch. I had grilled fish (local schnapper) with herbs, while my wife had the garlic butter. Both arrived cooked to perfection with a serving of chips and salad. Our attentive host was very friendly, and knowledgeable, and spoke good English. There is an outdoor shower to rinse off the salt and sand and the toilets were very clean and well supplied. An amazing memory because its off the beaten track. There was a Childrens menu too.More

Simple but exactly what an island restaurant needs to provide. This place was brilliant - it felt a bit awkward getting down to it through the edge of the village but meals were simple, fresh & location won us over. The location could not have...been better. Sitting on the beach with sand at your feet with the sounds of the village around you. We went for a brief walk through the village (& tried to be as polite as we could to not encroach on privacy). The villagers were awesome & allowed a couple of pics with the gorgeous kids. The host is very polite & welcoming.More

We stopped here for lunch on our self drive around the island. This ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The owner was extremely welcoming, the views exceptional and the food was by far one of the best meals we had on...the island. We ordered the poulet fish, with chips and salad. The restaurant is right on the beach. The floor is sand. On the day were visited there was no one else there at the same time so we had the place to ourselves. Whilst there we were extremely lucky to see some villagers from a neighbouring island transporting a large log through the water towards their village, singing traditional songs all the way. The owner explained that the chief from the village we were in had sold a large log to a neighbouring village on another island which was to be used as the villages traditional 'meeting house'. As part of the tradition the log had to be taken to the island the 'traditional way'. Overall I would definately recommend anyone travelling around the island to stop here, the location is serene and the food is excellent.More

Followed the signs off the main road along a bumpy track to find a quaint little restaurant on the beach. Unfortunately we were unable to get what we wanted as they hadn't received their weekly delivery but what we did get was excellent. Sitting at...a wooden table looking out at the ocean and islands was idyllic.More

We had heard good things about this restaurant and decided to pop in for lunch a few weeks ago. We were warmly greeted on arrival by the owner George who was absolutely delightful. This restaurant is a traditional Ni Van building right on the beach...in the village of Emua. It has beach sand floors, white painted picket fencing and is an authentic representation of Vanuatu island life. We all had fresh poulet fish with sides of local salads and veggies. The meal itself was cooked and presented beautifully - perfect! We had the local banana fritters for dessert - also delicious! General comments from our group were that this was our best meal whilst in Vanuatu! I would highly recommend this restaurant for visitors travelling around the island. Give George a ring and let him know you are coming - you will not be disappointed! PS - they have a limited range of wine and beer available but do allow byo.More

This part of Efate (around Undine Bay) is so beautiful, and we were delighted to stumble upon a restaurant! Feet in the sand, surrounded by shells and coconut palms, we had a lovely lunch of fish kebabs with rice and salad. While they do serve...wine, as of yesterday, they had run out (yes, we have been there two days in a row!) as they rely on a shipment from Vila, so this time we brought our own bottle, which was welcomed. Yesterday I had the poulet fish with lime and coconut sauce. Yummy yummy. There is also steak and chicken on the menu, and the chef is very flexible so you can mix and match and put in special requests. We are anchored just off the from the restaurant, and have seen turtles and a dugong, so if you keep your eyes peeled, you may be lucky too!More

We've spent 3 days in Emua village where the restaurant is located and it was our best experience on Efatu island. Orovy offers not only the restaurant but also an accomodation in the village where we definitelly recommend staying for a few days. Local people...are very friendly and will be happy to talk to you, show you around and invite you to any events happening in the village (which is, i suspect, very often :) If you're interested in being confronted with the local culture, rather than just staying in a resort and hitting main tourist spots, this is one of the places to go. If not, then I recommend at least visiting the restaurant.More

Orovy is a lovely beachside cafe right on the sand with a gorgeous local feel. George looked after us beautifully. Food is good, the homemade mayo is delicious. Wish I had ordered the mornay. Saw it on the next table. Yum. Licensed. Worth a stop.

Seafood is a specialty here, as to be expected, although there is beef on the menu. Arrive early and watch the sunset. The meal was large and filling. A small number of diners on the night we were there and the following night they were...closed. Sad face! It is the only place to eat in Emua.More

Another gem discovered! This is a beautiful sand floored authentic thatched restaurant literally on the beach. The food is fresh as you can get and served with that wonderful Vanuatu smile. What an amazing place. Highly recommended and well worth the drive to the north...of the island.More

Located off the main highway the location is great. The tide was out when we were there today but it would look awesome when in. We were told they only had beef ...so we had 2 steak meals and 4 local beers costing 7,000 vat....We weren't told how much the meals would be beforehand and thought the price was very high for the type of steak we got. Ordered rare steak but came more medium and quite chewy. Not quite the famous Vanuatu steak we were desiring. Probably should have queried the bill and on the basis of what we got on can only give 2 stars. We were told the other owner was a chef. I don't think he was around today. Disappointing given the other reviews we read.More
