Quick nice pricey meal as everything in La Barra. You must order Uruguayan Chivitos our improved 100% steak version of hamburgers. Thin slice of sirloin with hamburger dressing.Remember to ask the bread to be toasted, the balcony has an excellent view but the breeze cools the food down quick!

My wife and me were drawn by the famous chivito and American 1950's decoration. The size of the chivito is about 10-20% larger than a BigMac, and instead of the burger they put beef. The beef was very thin and in summary you cannot count with one of this chivitos if you are really hungry.... they are relatively expensive. Service... More

What is a chivito? This is the first question I asked and the answer is that it's a simple sandwich with meat and cheese like american hamburger but just much finer in texture. Rex is a diner on a bustling street in la barra. Service was fast, there is outdoor seating and lots of options on the menu if you... More

This Diner used to serve the best Chivitos ( finely cut steak sandwiches ) in Punta el Este .Unfortunatly this is no longer the case. Success has taken its toll. The service is sloppy, the place is dirty ,the cheese in the sandwiches is pre melted and served cold ,the tomatoes are small and green . Its a real pity since... More

If you get hungry for a hand-made hamburger Rex is a good place to go. The back deck overlooks the Atlantic. Service is generally prompt and there is a variety of menu items. Rex boasts on a sign in front that he serves "The best Chivitos in Town". It's possible!

In the heart of La Barra, where all is going on, you will find Rex. 20 years serving the same sandwich gets you to a level where it is hard to miss. It is not best value, but a decent alternative to grab a quick eat.

Good place to go with your kids for hotdogs and burgers. The food is not remarkable but it is good enough to make Rex Diner the most popular and busiest Diner in town.

Cheap food can be bad, but in this case the bad food isn't even cheap. Stick to the chivitos and the burgers, unless you're ready to experience the worst possible chicken caesar salad ever.
