Sadly, the food has gone downhill. Trader’s was always consistent, for the past decade plus, but somehow some way, the food has changed, I asked if there’s a new chef but was told no. Strange. Maybe just a bad day for the chef.
I have a dairy allergy. I asked for “reef and beef” to be dairy-free but the waitress came back and said the chef can’t do it because “the lobster won’t taste good.” Meanwhile, the chefs at the Ritz Carlton go out of their way to...make my orders dairy-free. Often they come out and ask me how’s the food. Not Trader Vic though. Trader Vic’s attaches itself to the Ritz Carlton but its food and service are miles away from the Ritz. Lazy chefs who can’t or won’t go a tiny extra step to satisfy a customer with an allergy.More
There are just too many great dining options in Bahrain to consider returning after our last visit. For over 15 years, Trader Vic’s has been a sentimental favourite, but sadly our first visit since the pandemic started has left us disappointed. The menu selection has...been greatly reduced and the quality of what remains is poor. It is still a great place for drinks, especially our preferred Mai Tai. The outdoor terrace is best. We’re hopeful it might return to its former standards, but meanwhile there are other places managing the situation betterMore
