This little restaurant, with it's checked table clothes and candles-in-wine bottles, looks like something out of 1960's Greenwich Village, until you notice the large Chanukah Menorah on the shelf. The entire operation is run by one person, so service is a little slow. But my daughter and I ended up with two delicious dishes - the spinach blintz and the... More

It is a small modest place with about 7 tables. The food is what you would have gotten at home if your mother was a excellent cook (who liked to cook) from Hungerian background and serving a dairy supper, or had just invited afternoon guests for her renowned cakes and coffee. Lots of sour cream. We were here on a... More

This has to be the most underrated restaurant to which I have ever been. I had passed by it multiple times chuckling to myself "a dairy Hungarian restaurant?" What happened to Hungarian goulash? When you ask the owner what he recommends, he replies "everything." He is absolutely right. Everything is excellent. The crepes melt in your mouth. And don't forget... More

This is a great place with a lovely atmosphere which I have enjoyed on many occasions for a date or with friends. Their menu is delicious both in savory and sweet items. Great Lecho and blintzes!! I enjoyed their desserts, their coffee and their service. They sell books in Hungarian in the library on the side of the cafe. A... More

We had the business lunch at Rega Matok last week, and liked it so much that came back for more with our daughter. The business lunch is a fantastic deal: soup, savoury blintzes and a hot or cold drink. The food is homemade and delicious, very reasonably priced, and the restaurant is friendly and inviting. We shall return!

A memorable little Hungarian restaurant a short walk from Yaffo Road. All of the dishes are handmade with a great deal of love and care. Sweet and savory pancakes, as well as dessert, are the highlights. Cabbage, mushroom goulash and stuffed peppers are also real gems that are listed on the daily specials Very reasonably priced and generous portions. The... More

We had the greatest time at Rega Matok! The food is amazing, and so unique - you really can't find food like that anywhere else in Jerusalem. Yigal, the chef and owner, is the nicest person. Make sure to ask to see his sign-in book and write something! Also, the hot wine is great.
