It's been a while since I was in Istanbul, (actually before May '16) and things may have changed a bit since then, but I happened on an old review I wrote for a magazine on the Hacı Abdullah restaurant. The Hacı Abdullah restaurant, in Beyoglu is one of the oldest restaurants in Istanbul and is the best place to find... More

While I was visiting Istanbul for work, I had dinner and lunch at Haci Abdullah Restaurant in Beyoglu district. This restaurant is a must visit restaurant in Istanbul to enjoy and experience real Ottoman and Turkish cuisine. I don't eat meat or chicken and it is always difficult for me to find good restaurants to enjoy the local flavors. Although... More

Great service, excellent Ottoman food... You can also go vegan (my friend did) and don't forget to enjoy the deserts; they are crazy!

One of the best restaurants to taste different kinds of foods from Ottoman kitchen. Both food and ambiance is great. Prices are a bit expensive for locals but very cheap compared to Europe or US.

Very elegant restaurant for traditional turkish cuisine ! I went there, suggested by my turkish friends, as it was one of the few places that prepares my favorite turkish meal "Bademli Perde Pilav" (check it out in google), and it was quite good. Even, last time i went there, they kindly offered me the chance to buy two of them... More

The location is not very easy to reach as it is not in the main Isteklal street. It is in a branch street after the first mosque. the decoration was nice and the food were very tasty. WiFi was available and the price were fair.

"Begendili tas kebap" and "içpilav" unique taste of ottoman kitchen. When i start to talk about Ottoman and local kitchen very good restaurants are located Çiya, Yanyali Fehmi at Kadikőy, Kannat at Űskűdar and Haci Abdullah at Beyoglu. If you want to understand taste of delicious foods go to any of them and feel the difference. You can compare $$-$$$... More

This restaurant gives home cooking a completly new dimension. It serves a wide variety of authetic diches in the Ottman tradition and presents these in a warm homely setting. What is most helpful for new uninitiated patrons is that all the main dishes as well as most deserts are displayed in a showcase before you are seated, so you can... More

Haci Abdullah Restaurant is within top 5 Ottoman Restaurants in Istanbul. I like their delicios plates. It is better to choose from buffet before you are seated. You can order whatever you like. All the plates will satisfy you.

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
