Taken here by Turkish business colleague - it is on Asian side in Üsküdar. We actually ate in another restaurant and just can here for dessert! It was heaven. Lots of choice of typical Turkish desserts at very reasonable prices.

Very good location in Üsküdar, close to the public bus station and port on short walk, great service, very extensive food in the kitchen where you can see and make yr choice yrself, tasty dishes...You will love the ambiance but pls do not go during the rush hour&midday as it is very crowded. From A to Z it is a very good place, but slightly overpriced.

Greatest sweets in istanbul. Friendly staff. Not a tourist restaurant. More local people eat here. Although it is a bit far from the european side, it is worth it to take the ferry here

Delicious food in a friendly atmosphere. Their icecream is the perfect finish to a wholesome meal - don't forget to ask for mastik flavor that is usually not mentioned among flavors they serve!

A hidden gem in the heart of Uskudar, Kanaat Restaurant offers Ottoman cuisine in its most authentic and unpretentious nature. Uskudar is a ferry ride across the Bosphorus. I personally think Uskudar is the place in Istanbul left to embody mystery, intrigue and romance which left most of the city's other districts. If you can have a gaze at the... More

Me and my family are their customers since the end of 1970's. Since then I never ate at Kanaat an unpleasent meal. Everytime when I visit Kanaat I found good food and good service.Specially their olive oil choices are excellent but the star at Kanaat is the ice cream which I believe the best in the world. Kanaat is a... More

Quick ferry ride and short walk through a bustling neighborhood to Kanaat Lokantasi. Comfortable, welcoming restaurant where families, dating couples and enterprising tourists happily chow down on an abundant array of home-style dishes, very reasonably priced and generously portioned. Order beautiful vegetable dishes and salads at one counter, meats at another, rustic sweets at a third, and your dinner will... More

One of the best places to enjoy Turkish cuisine in Istanbul. Must try olive oil appetizers, hunkar begendi and different desserts. Payable only in cash. Always full with domestic and foreign tourists.

Staying in Uskudar

Neighbourhood Profile
Home to more than half a million residents, Uskudar on the Asian side of the Bosphorus is one of Istanbul’s most densely populated neighbourhoods. Once a Greek colony, later a haven for people from across the Mediterranean and the Middle East, this gateway to Asia has been an active and diverse hub for eons. Still, visitors to Uskudar are often more overcome by its myriad treasures than by its many thousand residents. And with fairytale settings such as the “Maiden’s Tower” as well as grand examples of Ottoman Era architecture, plenty of parks, a gorgeous and lengthy coastline, and some of Turkey’s holiest sites, there’s no end to the sightseeing possibilities. Easily reached from the city’s European shores via a steady network of ferries, time spent in Uskudar reveals a “real life” Istanbul that many who experience find extremely fascinating.
