Our accomodation in Istanbul was just around the corner from this place. We discovered in on our first night and were happy we did; we ended up going there every night. There are surely better places to eat in Istanbul because we didn't find the gözleme (Turkish style pancakes) particularly tasty. We still loved having Turkish tea and coffee there,... More

I went to Mesale 3 times at the end of March 2016. The first time I ordered the mix grill for 2 with my wife. A giant platter of bulgur wheat (i think), chicken, meat, bread, onions, aubergine, tomatoes and yoghurt. It was delicious, excellent presentation and about 70-90 turkish liras including drink. I recommend the Pomegranate juice There was... More

It was my second visit to Istanbul and memories of having dinner here during my first visit made me bring my family for dinner. Yes, it was a sumptuous meal sitting on low traditional chairs. Yes, the dervish twirled and twirled. Music was good, atmosphere healthy. It was well worth our passing over many other options to get to Mesale... More

I am big fun of shisha and all other things including music that simbolize turkish culture. Mesale seemd like amazing place to finish day but it turned out that it was worst ever experience. First, only option for flavor to choose was apple and pure tobaco, second in the beginning they put just small piece of coil so shisha couldnt... More

Lovely vibe to this place, right next to the blue mosque. Delicious kebabs accentuate the music & dance, was great way to end the night.

My brother recommended this particular restaurant after sampling it the week before. After hearing about it, we thought we just had to try it as we had planned to go the week after. On the first day I ordered a platter of chicken wings which consisted of cous cous, salad, chicken tikka and wrap. I ordered the same dish in... More

It is the second time I come here. Good place for tea, coffee and sweets in the evening after sightseeing, located close to blue mosque. They allowed us to purchase Turkish delights opposite and we ordered tea and coffee. They have live tradional music and dance. Great place to have a rest and enjoy the music

We have been to this restaurant twice during our stay in Istanbul. The first time their food was very nice, service was prompt, therefore we decided to go there again. The second time they served us cold food after waiting for a very long time. Wouldn't waste my time or money to go there again.

Worth putting on your agenda if you are near the Blue Mosque in the evening. Typical turkish atmosphere with couches and water pipes together with the usual meze and kebabs etc. It was ok but no alcohol is served and the waiter did not seem to listen to what we wanted just assumed. We had to order all at once... More

We've been eating at this location for nearly 14 years. They keep improving the facility and menu. Has probably changed hands, or at least management because once or twice the place was vacant. Tourist, but you'll find many Turks eating here too. The center piece is their whirling dervish dancer and Turkish music in the evening. Also feature bubble pipes... More

Staying in Sisli

Neighbourhood Profile
For much of Istanbul’s history, Sisli and the area just north of Taksim Square were open countryside used mostly as hunting grounds. These days, Sisli and its chic streets are considered the very heart of contemporary Istanbuli life, where an epicenter of fashion and a thriving business district meet to create an expressly “downtown” feel. Though largely a residential neighborhood, luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and upscale shops abound with many of them situated inside or nearby Cevahir Istanbul, the biggest shopping mall in Europe and second biggest urban shopping mall in the world. Shopaholics and fashionistas travel from near and far to browse the area's mix of major global brand items and creations by popular Turkish designers.
