Tired of high pressure tourist traps with with rude pitchmen, my wife and I explored the neighborhood where we were staying. Food is selected at the counter with the waiter delivering the food at your table. We selected fresh cooked spinach, rice and a hearty meat stew. Dining alfresco on the sidewalk, we experienced neighborhood life up close and personal.... More

This is a must for my family and I each time we go to Istanbul. (Fifth time and counting). Always a friendly welcome by the staff and brilliant freshly cooked food. It is in the Old City part of Istanbul and opposite the Polis station at Kidgira Limani Caddessi. A must for true devotees of Turkish quisine.

Stopped here last night and enjoyed traditional Turkish food. First, warm flat bread was served and I enjoyed the texture. We ordered chicken ticca that was grilled perfectly and seasoned nicely. The chicken was served w fresh shredded carrots, lettuce, grilled pepper, fries and rice. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We were disappointed the restaurant was out of baklava. The... More

Tasty, fresh, home cooked food. We ate with the locals. Were treated like family. Just loved it! Don't expect fancy, tourist food but do expect friendly, fast service. Do try it - at end of park opposite Police Station.

We stayed in Oba Hotel and the owner has recommended a small Turkish restaurant, just few meters down the hill. He told us that it cooks delicious traditional Turkish food. He was right. We went there one evening and the food was simply great. The place is simple, the staff is very friendly, but the food was outstanding, really nice.... More

We were staying just a couple of doors from here, and had seen the recommendation in the Lonely Planet guide. We tried it and were not disappointed, The food is good but very reasonable. We would have eaten there a lot more, but were meeting friends staying elsewhere. Worth a visit if you are anyway in the locality (it is... More

Don't expect any haut cuisine or fancy restaurant. Actually, don't even expect a restaurant! It's a V E R Y basic place, with a limited buffet of local dishes and a hand full of old tables. Nevertheless it gives you the feeling that you arrived in Turkey, locals sit, zip their tea and discuss loudly, and the only form of... More

This restaurant is not a touristic place. We met only local people. The food is excellent. In particular moussaka, green beans, meatball with potatoes. We ate a lot spending not more than 7€ each! The personnel was very kind.
