We stayed in the Hotel Azade nearby to this restaurant. Each evening we would head out for a stroll and I began referring to it as "running the gauntlet" as all the restauranteurs and shopkeepers were constantly pushing you to come inside. It was a little tiring for me. The managers/owners of this restaurant were very friendly but not too... More

Wife and I had a lovely lunch here in November. Service and food was good. We were entertained by numerous cats playing, fighting and begging for scraps of food. The bill came and I noticed a tax charge, duly added a 10% tip, paid and left. I found out later on that day that there is no tax on food... More

This was a great place to eat. The owner was very kind, sociable, and hospitable. We got some free things and the food was so great that one of your friends cried. Very good food. Try the buttered Turkish delight and hummus.

Enjoyed late dinner here when visiting Istanbul. Better food, service and prices than the restaurants around the corner on Akbiyid. Food freshly cooked, not reheated like some places. Food and drink also better value and good portion size too. Worth fighting past the pushy waiters at the other restaurants to get here.

The place is massively overcharging, I had a fish which was okay , but nothing special. As well this is the only restaurant I've been in Istanbul that added tax over the prices in the menu .

Little restaurant near the mosque. Good food, traditional cuisine and European dishes. Very friendly service.

We had dinner at this place twice. Both times the food was very good and the servie was excellent. There was one error made (white wine was served instead of red wine), but it was quickly corrected in a professional and courteous manner. We would highly recommend this place for people who like good food and nice ambience. The place... More

We stopped here for dinner as we were too tired to walk. The guy standing outside hauling clients in is a smooth talker but don't believe him. Even before I stepped in I looked at his price and menu and told him I didn't have enough money left over for full dinner at his place - so he tells me... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
