This is a family owned small restaurant that is open only for lunch on weekdays serving the business clientele in the neighborhood. The menu changes everyday so check the website before you go but you can definitely find a dish to curb your appetite. The meals are typical dishes that would be cooked at a Turkish home. Try the deserts... More

Tucked away down a quiet, unassuming lane, you will find a warm, genuine host serving delicious, homely food. In particular, the rich, fluffy kaymak (like clotted cream) drizzled with honey was just heavenly. An absolute delight.

Whenever we are in the neighborhood, we try to stop in for lunch. It is always fresh, authentic, and different every day. A wonderful place to visit if you want to know how people really eat every day. It's not easy to find but it's worth the search. The owner is always so friendly--definitely go with his recommendations. And do... More

Having being introduced to this cafe by a food tour guide, we were greeted warmly by the owner & offered a large variety of local home style cuisine. A family run establishment owned by dad 'front end' & mum 'cook'. The food is authentic & delicious food for little cost, my partner and I made it back 2 more lunches... More

This restaurant was a stop on a food tour we took (which I highly recommend...see my other reviews), and we liked it so much we came back a couple days later on our own. It's a family run restaurant that I believe is only open for lunch. They're clearly committed to the quality of their food. Order the daily specials.... More

If you visit Karaköy area you should have lunch this small restaurant. Among the hırdavatçılar bazaar You can not hope to find such a lovely spot.It seems like a gem in garbage. The place has managed by an Armenian couple, Levon and Hayguhi Dallaryan. This kind minority person is so precious for us. Armenian cuisine is so special and historical. Its... More

If you travel to Istanbul for even one day put this divine food stop on your list. A small workman's street restaurant that produces the most incredible food. Stopped there for breakfast - which was part of an organised back-street culinary walking tour. Would nerer have discovered it otherwise. The place is run by an elderly husband & wife who... More

Staying in Karakoy

Neighbourhood Profile
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..
