The urge for creating new dishes combined with fresh ingredients, Itsumi is where the ideas for the Japanese restaurants in Istanbul were born in. Consistency as well as dedication to detail result in a perfect combination of flavour explosion...

The night we had dinner at Itsumi, we were to go to a modern dance performance and we wanted to try this nearby Japanese restaurant after having read the very positive comments at Tripadvisor but we were disappointed at the end. It was also Valentine's Day and the restaurant was full. Maybe that was the reason of this low performance.... More

As it is under the business buildings, it is a little bit pricey… It is usually very busy at lunch time… It is a nice place for business lunch… The menu involves Japanese cuisine other than sushi and even if the chef is talented the taste is a little pale…

Generally you do not come to Istanbul for sushi. This is a kebap heaven. For asian food Locals go to fancy places in Etiler/Bosphorus with mediocre taste and expensive prices. At Itsumi, Sushi is good, simple, tasty and worth it. Good thing is that they also use local fresh fish like bonito (palamut). We tried it as starter. It is... More

After several underwhelming experiences with Japanese food in Istanbul, I had almost given up and accepted my mediocre options... then I was introduced to Itsumi! Although it's a bit out of the way if you don't live in the area, it's definitely worth the effort if you are looking for genuine Japanese food. Non of the dishes disappoint, the eel... More

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
