Very friendly family owned restaurant, which welcomes tourists, but does not tout for business and is NOT an expensive tourist trap. The decor is more cafe than posh restaurant, but the food is superb. My husband said his lamb dish was the best lamb he had ever tasted. If you want to eat excellent food, reasonably priced, away from the... More

While on the road to find a place for dinner, we passed at Beydagi Bufe. We watched all the Food in the window and decided to try it out. By a warm welcome from Father and Daughter ( Chef and waitress/Boss) we got recommendations. So we tried first a plate of Meze ( Starters of different cold dishes) with fresh... More

Walked over here after spending afternoon at Topkap? Palace. The lokanta's chef was at the food counter with big smile. He suggested sampling a few before making decisions. Had oven-baked chicken and lamb - both were cooked very well and enjoyed simple homey cooking. There are many eateries on the main drag closer to the Sultanahmed Square - tried some... More

Our flat was just down the block from this restaurant and came highly recommended by the owner. So we gave a try the second day in Istanbul. This was probably one of the best if not the best turkish food experiences we had in Istanbul. First you get a selection of Meze (cold appetizer) but what comes with it, is... More

The service was friendly from the moment we arrived. We ordered the Mixed Plate appetizer, which was a selection of lovely traditional sauces which went beautifully with their special puffy pita. I had the grilled sea bream, which was amazing - perfectly crispy skin and thick, dense white fish that felt quite light on the stomach. The staff kept bringing... More

(Japanese follows by English) We visited there around 3pm in the afternoon. The man at this restaurant said hello to all the tourists passing in front of his restaurant.Around this time, there was no one in the restaurant but anyway, we were invited in the restaurant. They offered standard Turkish local cuisine including variety of kebab. They served us a... More

If your in Sultanahmet you`ll notice that the food is very expensive and worse off isnt even authentic Turkish cuisine. Beydagi Bufe however was a real find for me as its not located on the main street that runs past the Blue Mosque/Hagia Sophia. This small restaurant serves homely food its a small place so dont expect anything too fancy... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
