It doesn't seem to be so exceptional from the outside, but when you get in, there is actually a wide range of choices, with lots of vegetables options and fresh herbs. I tasted many different stuff and all of them were great. I would definitely come back here! The potato salad is great, the chickpeas too, the vegetables with veal... More

This canteen-type restaurant offers several set menus, plus you are free to have whatever extras you want. I had "Menu 3" with grilled chicken for 10,50 lira, and was happy about it. A good place to eat if you want tasty and healthy food.

"Lokantasi" restaurants are quasi-buffet style, where many dishes are pre-prepared, and you just choose dishes you want along the line and the Chefs plate them and hand them to you, and then you pay Cashier at end of the line. (Difference from Buffet, is that it is not all-u-can-eat). This one is our fav. which we ate at multiple times,... More

I love this place. Must have eaten here 5 times. This is a LOKANTASI (upmarket canteen where all the homemade food is ready on display) with the largest variety I came across. Its busy, clean, cheap and the food is high quality. Hard to go wrong for a quick dinner or lunch. No wifi or alcohol.

Ehlitat Lokantasi serves a tasty food at very low prices (lentil soup -2 TL, chicken dish - 5,5 TL, chickpeas - 3TL, pudding 3 TL). The place is very clean and the atmosphere is nice. I recommend.

Simple and honest food. Not expensive and very friendly people. Will definitely dine here again. Recommend the izgara kofte, basic yet very tasteful.

This place is a little treasure close to Istiklal street. Delicious food, big choice of turkish cuisine, very kind stuff, helpful with description of the different dishes. We went there to have our supper everyday during our stay in Istanbul. I will be back there next time I visit Istanbul.

The restaurant is located on one of the alleys along Istiklal street. Its not on the main street. Find for HalkBank. It down the alley just at the corner of the bank. Walk about 5 minutes as it is quite a distance. You will pass by Hotel Interoyal. The food is good and reasonable. Highly recommend this restaurant. You won't... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
