We had a evening flight in so we got to the hotel late (around 10pm) we walked down the street and chose this place. Service was ok, waiter spoke English...he was also the cook. Family were sat on the computer at a table which was a bit annoying as a man was playing poker on His laptop. Ordered the spaghetti... More

Someone on the street suggested this place, telling us was absolutely the best with the freshest seafood in the area.. The fish wasn't fresh, and the vegetable on the side yesterday previously frozen. The prices was ok but the food wasn't

Small roof top restaurant with a great view of the Marmara Sea. Nice, relaxed atmosphere with good service and good food.

Looks nice outside, but the food was extremely disappointing. Only two of the starters, humus and carrot yoghurt, met about expectations, while the lentil soup reminded very much of the instant stuff you buy in supermarkets. The kebabs finally were extremely poor. You get better and cheaper in most of the street shops in Istanbul. Safak's value for money is...... More

Looked nice from walking down the street. Couldn't get a waiter to serve us even though 3/4 were walking up and down but had more eyes for friends on the street and each other. Ordered a coke and red wine. Coke was warm and after complaints the waiter went down the street to pick up some ice. The red wine... More

So friendly. I wanted ice cream, but they didn't have any. They walked me down the street to another restaurant that had ice cream.

We went here for dinner and regretted it afterwards. 126 Turkish lira was one of the most expensive meals we ate while in Istanbul. **and the food was sub-par. chicken casserole was an extremely small portion for price paid cheese pasta was McDonalds quality chicken kabob was actually good! hummus appetizer was good also! oven-baked rice pudding was average baklava... For us this was the best place near tour hotel in Sultanahmet. Ate there four times. Meze like humus, stuffed wine leafs, ezme salad (very spicy!), green beans, yoghurts etc. superb. Cooked meat and vegetable oven dishes alse very good as well as the grilled stuff we had (chicken wings). Serves alcohol (beer, quite good white and red house wines,... More

My wife and myself had dinner here on 18 April 2013. We ordered our meals and asked if we could have a bottle of local wine. The waitress brought 2 bottles for us to choose. I asked her the prices and she said 16 and 18 Turkish Lira. I asked her to confirm that she had said 18, and not... More

Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Service really friendly. Simple but tasty food and the prices affordable (although we didn't have wine)

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
