We ate here on the first night of our recent break in Istanbul. We were staying at the Nobel Hostel Guesthouse, so we also had breakfast here (which was great and really good value for money every morning). A lovely evening meal for our first night, along with a nice cold Efes or two, which started our short holiday off... More

Stayed in a Hotel near by, where the restaurant was closed, due to low occupancy. Went to the Sofa restaurant and had some real genuine Turkish food.

This restaurant is walking distance from Sultanahmet square. I ordered takeaway - Ali Nazik, a traditional Turkish dish - the service was good, the food was absolutely delicious. I would definitely return here.

Ordered Italian pasta, it was tasty. They just need to add more sauce & put some herbs or provide it upon serving The place is good & was nice to have a good chat with a friend there.

Located just below the Blue Mosque and Arasta Bazaar. In 4 days, ate here twice. Both times had a selection of appetizers but always the Mezze platter. Very fresh and great selection of items. 2 appetizers and a bottle of wine made for a wonderful evening in this small bistro. Excellent service.

We were in Istanbul for a 4 days stay and lived close by this café. During our stay we visited this awesome place several times. The atmosphere is amazing and the host was very kind and provided always good service. I will definitely stop by again for my next trip to Istanbul.

The Sofa Cafe-Restaurant is a quaint little restaurant that blends in well with it's environment. It has a nice spot in the heart of the old city in Istanbul. You will have to park in the street as the nearest parking is around the Mosque. The waiters served us in a short time and the orders were recorded correctly. It... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
