Cezayir is one top-notch and is one of the oldest restaurants, and as for the food it is very delicious, the menu is diverse. You can also the garden which you may not find very easily in this kind of central location. In my opinion if prices would be slightly cheaper, this one could be your favourite

Just down the hill from Istiklal Caddesi, Cezayir is set in the isolated garden of an Italianate palazzo. The limited menu is chic and flavorful, the staff gracious, the bar is fully stocked, and it's a great escape -- an calm oasis barely 5 minutes from the thronging hordes on Beyoglu's main pedestrian street.

Visited here with a friend who lives in the city, not sure i would have known about it otherwise. Fantastic place with great interior and outside space. Very chilled with an excellent range of wines and food. It is just behind Galatasaray Lisesi, once you know where it is easy to find, or of course get a taxi.

I had this place in my wishlist before we went to Istanbul and I thought it would be a nice place to have a lunch and enjoy the atmosphere. It is a little hard to find , has a nice little garden to sit the atmosphere overall was nice but my problem was the food itself, it is way overpriced... More

Very good food in lovely setting. Served in a converted school. Traditional dishes as well as good selection of meat, fish and pasta.

We had been recommended to this restaurant tucked away in a very busy restaurant precinct . It was probably my only dissapointing in my dining out in Istanbul. The outdoor terrace is attractive but the service was offhand and the dishes we ordered were very standard interpretations of well known dishes

Located on the edge of Chahangir not far from the Lemon Gardens this converted Italian schoolhouse doubles as restaurant and party center for the upper crust connoiseurs of good food and drink (mostly ex-pats). Varied menu, heavy on local favorites including stuffed grape leaves, Circassian chicken (which was just a tad dry and lacking any pizazz as far )as taste,... More

This restaurant was on our doorstep and recommended by our concierge when we arrived but it was one of those "Off Nights" - let's be charitable. Perhaps a group of 6 was too large for them but service was slow, arrival times for food were extremely slow (main course after 90 minutes) - and 2 orders were wrong (and starters... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
