We found Cafe Rumi on the "Happy Cow" website. Good atmosphere with a lovely house cat wandering around between the tables :-). I would definitely recommend this place also to Vegetarians/Vegans. They made a special vegan meal for us. We were served with a free appetizer and free tea after the meal. Thank you guys!

I love this place. The food is so delicious and the staff is so friendly and helpful; especially Mr. Omar. It is my third visit to Istanbul and this restaurant is one of the places that I have to visit. Thanks Mr. Omar for your excellent service.

Atmosphere was awesome. Situated in a quiet area just off the tourist path. We ordered a mixed kebap cooked in the traditional clay pot. The serving of this was the highlight of the evening as they bring it out on fire and crack it in front of you. Omar, the waiter was a young man from Kurdish background who was... More

I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant as I was looking for a place to grab lunch one day in Istanbul. Like many other restaurants, there was a staff member calling to passerbys and handing out brochures of the menu. I decided to give the place a try and was quite pleased :) I ordered a lamb piddler (lamb pizza) which... More

Great little restaurant that caters for a vegan. The vegetable tile was really tasty and had rice and bread to go with it. Ömer provided great service and banter. 5/5

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
