Excellent place for authentic Thai cuisine

Nara Thai is a well known Thai restaurant franchise and this is the Colombo branch of it. It's situated at the Duplication road in the same colonial bungalow where Chessa Swiss restaurant used to be before. The ambiance is quite elegant and built to give a southeast Asian feel with a comfort oriented setting. They have a range of authentic Thai delicacies in their menu with write-ups to understand the flavor and ingredients of them. Food tastes great and portion sizes are pretty good. They have the authentic Thai flavor in them. They don't have a large number of staff members, however they are hospitable, attentive and provides an excellent service. Prices seems moderate and it seems worth the experience. Parking space available for 5 - 6 vehicles within premises. Certainly a place that deserves a good recommendation.

The food industry is slowing picking up, with guest able to travel around , with a temporary fuel availability. So is this restaurent, surely with many challanges in supply chain. The manager was able to find a table for 3 , despite been fully booked. Courteous service staff provided the menue, took the order and delivered food. The meals was tasty...the price tag was a bit high , but with input cost rise, it's no surprise. Every business needs to survive. They have cut corners on The pineapple juice ..less juice, more whipp (blended to reduce the juice)

The food was very flavourful and really nice. Only hope the portions were bigger. We had prawn red curry, battered cuttle fish, one vegitable dish and thai rice. Mango juice was quite nice too.

Ruined our last night i Sri lanka

We had our last dinner here before heading back home and this place completely ruined our last meal. 1. We asked for not spicy and NO chili. The food was waaay to hot and when asking for new portion, they just simply washed of the meat and put it in new dish. 2. The portions are very small. It was mostly rice with 4-5 spoon of dish. 3. The service is slow. Very very slow. Also, they don’t speak english so well. 4. This is simply a tourist trap. Would never come back or recommend it forward.

The good and ugly side of Nara Restaurant, Colombo

The food at this Thai food restaurant was both good and bad. I was there last night (July 28) and ordered a Tom Yum Sea Food Soup. It was lukewarm and had six prawns, each the size of a small postal stamp. The Baramunda fish fried was exceptionally good. The papaya salad came only after we had finished eating. The service was most atrocious and the waiter kept arguing that it take time to make the papaya salad. My nephew who ate with his hands was shown the tailet to wash his hands. This is in a country of 21 million where the very vast majority still use their hands to eat their rice and curry. Should not the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and the Colombo Municipal Council take note? - I. Athas

Very good food, but be prepaid to wait....like waaaaaiiiiittttt! I have had lunch around 5 times at Nara, and glad to say every time the meals were perfect. The fish cakes were super. Only issue is the time taken to prepare meals, especially during a weekend. Be prepared to stay 45mins to get what youb ordered. Also they once returned back after about 30mins and told sorry we don't have what you ordered (fish cakes). Easily the waiter could have said it when we ordered itself. But once again need to highlight the wait is worth. So if you have plenty of time to spend, its a perfect Thai meal.

Worst Thai we have ever had

Ordered on uber and was deeply disappointed with the food. The chicken fried rice was so spicy with spoonfulls of red chillie pieces in it, that we had to throw it. The crab rice was equally spicy and had something like grated coconut on top which we found was something that only tasted a bit like crab. Besides the white snow on top there was no crab in the rice. There too morchillie than rice!! Having lived in Thialand for ten years we know what Thai rice is. The restaurants has got a bunch of Sri Lankan cooks who are making spicy Sri lankan fried rice which Nara Thai is palming off as Thai food. Even wayside Thai restaurants have better food. Don’t bother to order from them. Absolute scam and a total rip off! Never again!!

Excellent Thai food! Get takeaway if you want alcoholic beverages

The Thai food at Nara Thai is excellent--delicious, authentic and generous proportions. We enjoyed all of our menu selections. They only serve soft drinks and juices, no alcohol whatsoever. If you want to enjoy an alcoholic beverage with your meal, consider takeaway.

The best Thai in srilanka

The best Thai I have ever had from their Tom yum soup to the rice and the yellow curry and red curry. The best rice was there Nara rice which is a must try. Keep up the good work!!👏

Nothing fancy. Average food. If you are looking for a great Thai meal, I would not recommend it. Pad Thai was average. Chicken rice seems to be spicy only.

Very poor service...

Previous visit i had very good experience here and i again came with my family members today...but faced for a horrible service today...very poor service..if u speak in language sinhala u will find the worst service...but if u speak in english, u will have a superb service!!! 🤣🤣🤣 sad but a true story...so u will be treated in different manner according to the language u use. A comment book is not maintained at all,they have no idea about what is a comment book..😆😆😆. I asked for their names but they refused to tell...i didn't want to meet the manager by the way😉 So what my recommendation is ,if u wanna have a better service, behave in a hogh class manner and do not forget to speak in english!!! food wise the place is good..
