While staying at the Villa Sovanna Hotel next door, we visted this restaurant for dinner. It was clearly a restaurant that locals eat at (always a good sign). It was always busy as well (another good sign). The food was some of the best that we had during our entire stay in Cambodia. Also the least expensive meal we had... More

Went there the first night we arrived and the food was perfect!! Delicious bbq dishes and cold beer!! We we were treated very respectfully and it was a very funny experience. We were the only foreigners and this made it even better for us. Don't miss it and remember that you are in Cambodia not in a 5 star NY... More

Well we got in late and it looked nice, loads of Cambodians, and near our hotel..so let's give it a go..and it was fantastic! Follow the golden rule if the locals are eating there and you rarely go wrong....fantastic Cambodian food, great service..and the various women selling their own brands of beer, so cute!e. Really worth finding this place.

This is a bustling, buzzing restaurant that works in overdrive with very few internationals eating there. I think out of about 50 tables there were two other tables of foreigners. If you want English speaking staff and Cambodian food sanitised for foreigners then go somewhere else. If you want to eat like a local then this is a great place... More

Not good at all. Communication with the staff was really complicated and made our order really complicated. The orderd fish was totally raw and impossible to eat. Beer was warm, tv to loud and there was one staff girl starring at us during our whole stay, bad feelings. Just don't go there

We were taken by a local -12 of us - and the locals ordered her favourite things...not necessarily things I would order. It was good but I wish I could have seen the menu! The fried rice was good, the special salad was loaded with cilantro (not a fan) but had just enough kick to be interesting. The barbeque beef... More

We actually ate at Sovanna II (menu is the same I think). We enjoyed great steak BBQ and fish. Great mix of local families and tourists. A fun night out. Service can chaotic but that is part of the fun.

This is the best restaurant in Phnom Penh if not the world. Infinite choice and lots of entomophagous dishes for the adventurous diner. I ate ants and bees' lava and was very pleasantly surprised by how aromatic in flavour they actually were. But you don't have to eat insects - the Sovanna caters for every taste. Go check it out!

This restaurant has expanded so we eat at the Sovanna II which is just a few units away. The food are great tasting, the only down side is the very slow service. From taking order, to food serving, and asking for bill. Not sure if this was because of Sunday evening. But generally we found serving in food industry here... More

Having been in Vietnam and Laos for the previous 3 weeks we turned up in Phnom Penh and headed out for dinner on the recommendation of the Lonely Planet. Service was fine and friendly. We ordered beef steak which was delicious, green vegetables which were nice, roast squid which was under cooked (gloopy bits) and roast chicken which we had... More
