GPS-ing the Lunch Lady brought us to a back street corner in District 1, with everyday Vietnam buzzing all around. Upon arrival a number of determined food vendors vyed for our custom. We were expecting one Lunch Lady with a noodle cart, so the experience was confusing. As soon as we sat down at the little plastic table, a dish... More

I was so glad I made the effort to try the Lunch Lady's Pho- it did not disappoint!!! The sad part is, they direct you to take a seat and deliver the Pho- while the sounds great- when you have a local who pays 30,000 dong and you were told you got the "special" and to pay 70,000 and the... More

Mind blowing! The favours of the food served at this place is phenomenal. You sit down and are served straight away. You will meet the Lunch Lady herself who is very jolly and clearly loves her job. A place you must visit to try great Vietnamese food.

When I originally heard about this places years ago on No Reservations I thought oh that place looks delicious. I never thought I would be in Saigon years later and have the chance to check it out for myself. Altogether is was a delightful experience and I got to see and eat lunch made by the "the lunch lady". It... More

I'm Vietnamese and I definitely feel sad about this! Why do you have 2 different prices 30.000 vnd for local people and 40.000 for tourists? maybe 10.000 is a tiny amount and it's less than a dollar, but It does ruin Vietnam tourism I think. anyway, the food is ok. But I just don't like this place. I will never... More

I know Anthony Bordain went here for lunch, but I don't know why. The noodles were undercooked (no, not al dente—just raw) and the fresh spring rolls were terrible (more lettuce than anything else). The prawns weren't cleaned and had large Greg veins throughout each. Definitely would pass on this if I were you. You also don't have a choice... More

Been on a Thursday, beef noodle soup with fried spring rolls and fried shrimp cracker. I would personally say it's yummy and given the fact that it's widely publicised but the recipe remained consistent.

We got told about the lunch lady while we were in Hanoi, over 3 weeks ago, and today we had lunch! We sat, and food just arrived, spring rolls, rice paper rolls, prawn fritters , and a Thai noodle soup. The food was excellent, service from the ladies was great. I got a photo and a signed recipe book from... More

Food is great---fresh ingredients & tastes fab BUT, all these things are true: dishes are washed in buckets, food is constantly brought to you that you did not order--since you are not sure what you are ordering, it can be a problem & dirt abounds in the roads. We were with a "tours by locals" & this still happened to... More
