Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Xoi Yen is a great combination of soft, smooth sticky rice and delicious toppings. The variety of filling options and unique flavor of sticky rice make this dish a delicious and diverse traditional dish. Xoi Yen is a great choice for breakfast or a brunch,...and I always enjoy its special flavor.More

Excellent!!! The place was crowded with Vietnamist people. They have rice with different toppings you can choose. Rice could be traditional sticky rice, turmeric sticky rice etc and toppings like chicken, beef, mushrooms etc The price was really cheap, we paid around 4-5€ for everything.

Found this place on a travel blog as a great spot for local Vietnamese food in the old quarter of Hanoi, it did not disappoint. You basically build your own bowl of food and this was sooo good. Watch how much add-ons you order as...your bowl does not get bigger, you just have to cram it all together. Super delish.More

We had sticky rice at Xoi Yen for breakfast. We liked the turmeric sticky rice. The traditional sticky rice comes plain with just the rice. It’s better with the other ala carte dishes that you can order.

Since they have a lot of different toppings that quite fit everyone's taste. The new restaurant in Tran Hung Dao is very much more taken care of, in terms of cleanliness. Price is a bit high but it's ok in general.

Sticky rice with honey pork belly - so delicious. Only the staff can be a bit grumpy, but the food is really good. A must try for your Hanoi trip.

Very popular with the locals. English menu available. The sticky rice tastes very good together with the stir-fried chicken.

Something different, Vietnamese version of sticky rice with lots of toppings to choose from. We didn’t know what to choose so we tried abit of everything. Was an interesting flavour and good for a quick meal. Also do try the corn drink, it is quite...yummyMore

When we arrived at 7.30pm, the place was pretty crowded with long queues for takeaways. No one entertained us so we made our way to the 3rd level with empty tables and the staff came shortly with their menu. Their corn sticky rice was unique,...something we had not seen or might have missed in south and central Vietnam. The dishes were simple yet okay for our tastebuds. Would suggest to check this place out at least once if you’re visiting Hanoi for the first time. But don’t expect the kind of service you would enjoy in a restaurant, just walk in and find yourself a seat, grab the menu and start ordering.More

The staff are extremely unfriendly and do not speak any English (not a criticism), so clarification on anything is out of the question! Had corn sticky rice with dried onions and a spicy sliced cucumber side to add as a topping. It was delicious!

Pic no 1 is xôi xéo (sticky rice with dry onion and fat), thịt kho tàu (chinese braised pork), chả quế (roasted cinnamon pork paste) Pic 2 is xôi ngô (sticky rice with corn), thịt xá xíu (chinese barbeque meat), ba tê (pate). It is...presumably to be satisfying for most Asians' taste buds as rice is a staple food for many of us. Hence, for Asians who like khao niaw (sticky rice in Thailand), 糯米 (nuo mi- glutinous rice in Malaysia, Singapore etc) should find xôi at Xôi Yến palatable.More

Not quite. Without the meat accompaniment, you just get rice and egg. It’s not the point of trying Xoi Yen.
