When we arrived at 7.30pm, the place was pretty crowded with long queues for takeaways. No one entertained us so we made our way to the 3rd level with empty tables and the staff came shortly with their menu. Their corn sticky rice was unique, something we had not seen or might have missed in south and central Vietnam. The dishes were simple yet okay for our tastebuds. Would suggest to check this place out at least once if you’re visiting Hanoi for the first time. But don’t expect the kind of service you would enjoy in a restaurant, just walk in and find yourself a seat, grab the menu and start ordering.

Excellent!!! The place was crowded with Vietnamist people. They have rice with different toppings you can choose. Rice could be traditional sticky rice, turmeric sticky rice etc and toppings like chicken, beef, mushrooms etc
The price was really cheap, we paid around 4-5€ for everything.

Something different, Vietnamese version of sticky rice with lots of toppings to choose from. We didn’t know what to choose so we tried abit of everything. Was an interesting flavour and good for a quick meal. Also do try the corn drink, it is quite yummy

I often recommend friends and partners who like to eat sticky rice to go to Yen sticky rice restaurant, and it's been a long time since I've been there to eat. Every day when I go to work, I see that these days there aren't as many buyers as before. I stopped by to try it out. how.
I ordered it like I usually eat (white sticky rice + 1 piece of meat + 1 egg + chicken) and it cost 85k - usually it only costs 65-70k for a portion like that. I asked if the price had just increased or why it was so expensive (because normally a portion like that at a good sticky rice restaurant in Hanoi would only cost about 35k, but because it's in the old town, the price could be twice as high (no problem). Over here, the portion of sticky rice is 3 times higher. That's why there are so few customers these days.
+ I'm a person who likes to eat sticky rice, but the price in the old town is one and a half or double the price, which is acceptable. If it's 3 times the normal price, then why are there so few customers these days?
Will never eat here again (even though I have eaten here for many years and often recommend it to domestic and international friends).

At the end of the Ninh Ben tour, we were taken to a Bun Cha restaurant for free, but I had eaten there the day before and didn't really like it. When I told the guide, he took me to this restaurant because it is famous for its okowa. I arrived around 7pm, but it was very crowded and I finally managed to get a seat. To order, first you ask if you want your okowa plain or with corn, and if you want chicken, pork or beef as toppings. The local guide helped me with the order, such as whether I wanted it steamed or fried, which was helpful. I ordered a simple okowa with steamed chicken. It was refreshing and easy to eat even in the heat, and it was delicious. I added soy sauce halfway through and it changed the flavor and was delicious.

We had sticky rice at Xoi Yen for breakfast. We liked the turmeric sticky rice. The traditional sticky rice comes plain with just the rice. It’s better with the other ala carte dishes that you can order.

Found this place on a travel blog as a great spot for local Vietnamese food in the old quarter of Hanoi, it did not disappoint. You basically build your own bowl of food and this was sooo good. Watch how much add-ons you order as your bowl does not get bigger, you just have to cram it all together. Super delish.

It's was quite crowded place when i arrive. Seem that a lot of Vietnamese eat this kind of food for breakfast. It's taste like rice but sticky and soft, the taste a little bit strange but i'm enjoy the meat, egg and so on. However, it's make my stomach feel hot from inside.

The sticky rice dishes are quite diverse, with many options, my favorite is the sticky rice dish. The staff are okay but not very friendly. Vietnamese sticky rice is quite delicious, quick and convenient to carry, maybe I will come back.

I'm getting tired of noodles in Hanoi, so I had lunch here, which has good reviews. I took a bite and thought, "What, is this rice?"
If you've tried Thai khao niao, you'll understand, but it has the unique chewy texture of glutinous rice, no chewiness. Why is everyone so delicious? I probably won't eat it again.

We went there twice for dinner. The Xoi are good and the accompaniments varied. Restaurant well located in the heart of old Hanoi.
We particularly recommend ruoc (pulled pork) as an accompaniment to Xoi.

Since they have a lot of different toppings that quite fit everyone's taste. The new restaurant in Tran Hung Dao is very much more taken care of, in terms of cleanliness. Price is a bit high but it's ok in general.
