As a former 12 year resident of Japan, I take my Japanese food seriously, especially sushi. This place gets it. Great atmosphere, and great view, combined with perfect service, knowledgable staff, and delicious sushi. Wine list is wonderful, and easy to pair with the fresh fish. Go, enjoy, and make sure to get some of the fresh local fish that... More

My partner and I have been to Namu before, so decided to take our parents who were celebrating a wedding anniversary and it was also my birthday. We were looked after from start to finish by the manager and another member of staff, dishes were recommended throughout, along with imparting knowledge of the cooking process and ingredients. The food was... More

Great food, great presentation of the food aswell, great service. We ate sushi and terriyaki chicken, can only recommend this restaurant. Big thanks to chef Andy, who made this experience even better, he took his time to explain us more about the background of sushi making etc :-) If you're in Koh Samui its definitely worth the money.

Went here with my Fiancé for sushi dinner, had a great time! Food was excellent although drinks were a little pricey but that was expected. The spicy edamame and sashimi where amazing! Great change from the spicy Thai food! I would recommend booking a window seat and it might be a better spot during the day for lunch than dinner... More

Let me start to say that I am usually not over-critical. Unfortunately I have to be that now. Namu was nothing we expected. The food was pretty average. Even all-you-can-eat sushi places in Amsterdam can compete with the quality of Namu. The ambience was also not star-like. A small restaurant with people dressed for a 8pm dinner as if they... More

We visited Namu on our last night in Thailand. Even though we love Thai food, Namu was a really refreshing change! Lovely Japanese style food, well presented, excellent service, and a relaxing environment. We were staying nearby, so getting there was no problem. I'd recommend Namu as a great fine dining option in Koh Samui. You can read the menu... More

We were pleasantly surprised by this Japanese restaurant. The food was great. It was helmed by a Malaysian chef with superb skills. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and made appointment to go again the next night but because I was down with food poisoning we had to cancel the dinner the next night but I am sure it was not due... We tried Namu on our last night. And it was worth every penny to cap off an amazing weekend at W. Restaurant is small so make reservations & my advise seat by the counter if you enjoying watching the chefs at work. Portions are fairly large. We had the ramen, snow fish, vegetable tempura & tofu. The chefs even made... More

Every time we travel to Samui the MUST thing to do on our list is to dine at Namu and not only once in each trip but several meals. Some time we ate here both lunch and dinner even we stay another hotel as we are not the W Hotel fans with their stunning style but the restaurant. This restaurant... More

Adding cutting-edge design, a global lifestyle with modern luxuries to Thailand, the hip W Retreat Koh Samui also offers the ultimate culinary indulgence with its signature restaurant, Namu.

Taking its name from the Korean word for wood, Namu combines the basic life elements to create a new culinary world that embodies Asia Tomorrow.

Stylish individual elements underline the minimal clean lines of the decor that sets the scene for inventive Japanese cuisine. Step through the dramatic entrance surrounded by an enchanting water feature inside, subdued lighting suffuses the dining area with a intimate vibe. A dramatic textured ceiling spirals downwards, flanked by green glass rods, representing bamboo. Diners can opt to sit outside on the beachside terrace, at one of the six tables indoors, or at the best seats in the house - along the counter of the open kitchen for a firsthand glimpse of the action.

The innovative menu at Namu offers a diversity of dining experiences, re-interpreting influences from around Asia and especially Japan, while retaining intrinsic flavor profiles. In keeping with the traditional Asian concept of dining, a shared table concept that celebrates the compatible textures and flavors is encouraged.

Cutting-edge and daring, Namu is a sensual dining experience that constantly re-invents itself, while showcasing the Asia of tomorrow.
