Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'll tell you what this bar consists of. Rude staff that seems to hate foreigners and a tiny dirty bar that claims to play jazz in order to get you to buy drinks. But it doesn't have real jazz musicians and they don't play jazz....Also, a real jazz scene has friendly, laid back musicians and a friendly support staff. You won't find any of that here. It's just another Thai money grab. Many foreigners don't see this because they're dingy backpackers with 0 standards. The feeling I got here was that the employees really dislike foreigners. Avoid this place and look for a nicer, friendlier bar. They are all over Chiang Mai.More

We had such a fun time here. Good fun music and great vibes, even standing outside in the rain. The cocktails are very good, beers cheap and staff friendly. Didn’t have to wait too long for a table either.

Visited the North Gate Jazz Co-Op on the strength of a reccomendation from a friend. Clearly a popular setting - the crowd was spilling over into the street, served by an-on street bar. A varied mix of interesting people - some really nice and one...strange American dude who was recording everything (and his life) on some kind of youtube live feed!More

The open-air North Gate Jazz Co-op is a cool place to hang out and drink or not drink as you listen to music. No pressure, no problems, just good people and good vibes.

One star is too much, never felt so much disrespected, by the owner! I passed by this place for first time when I was drinking a beer in my hands and stopped one sec to see what’s going on there, and had the bad luck...to meet the “owner” on the street who straight away told me in a very rude way “why you didn’t buy you beer inside” I said I just passed by, but definitely the next beer it’s gonna be inside, and so he answered so “go another place f##k the f##k of here! F##k this guy!“ absolutely rude and uncomprehending situation for me. This bar and bar owner only want to hardly make foreigners money and treat you like trash, I was not even on the walking street, I was on the cars pavement, It’s a totally a shame this guy is a Thai guy, just faking to be a cool jazz bar but into money’s misery. Please avoid such a place and have a wonderful night!More

Stumbled upon this as a real Chiang Mai gem! A great alternative to the traditional sports bar/pub/club night out. Understated venue with delicious cocktails served with style. Hugely talented musicians - we were in awe as was a captivated audience. Don’t miss the open mic...night on a Tuesday - thanks to the hosts for letting me give it a try!More

An unexpected, delightful find on the 3rd floor of what looks like a quiet local bar, you can experience some fantastic jazz music live. Nice chilled vibe and a good drinks selection!

A small bar directly at the North Gate with live music. Due to Covid it was quiet, but the place was still in business. Entrance and seating is free, drinks have a limited choice but are cheap. There was a 3-man guitar band playing instrumental....Nice and well played but after a while to much of the same. Seating is on a wooden bench or small stools, not the most comfortable. But still a nice place for some good music, probably also one of the few for now.More

My ideal jazz bar. Looks like a bit of a dive but the music is just awesome! 3 bands on every night from (I think) 8:30 - which is nice as many places don't start music until later. I think they've only just recently re-opened...since COVID slowed down the nightlife in Thailand. Cocktails and beers were good and cheap, the music was seriously fantastic. I wish this bar was down the road from my house!More

Bit of a dive bar and appeared closed from ground floor when we arrived but up the stairs to the almost derelict third floor and bar...excellent jazz duo with a cozy appreciative crowd. We sat on the balcony and enjoyed shooting the breeze. Next band...was on downstairs with drums, keyboard, trumpet, guitars and vocals. Cool Latino FLC type vibe. The place filled up and folk spilled out on to pavement. Liked it all very much and friendly folk. Beers 170 baht for two small Chang. Think there is music on every night...good.More

Stumbled upon this brilliant bar where the beer was cold, service friendly and Jazz excellent! It’s got such a cool vibe. It’s a cool mix of Thai & international people mixing together & listening to live Jazz. The band were amazing. We sat upstairs and...watched the street below with a couple of beers & loved it. It’s a ‘must visit’ if you’re ever in Chaing Mai :-)More
