Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very good local food! Food came out quick and the beer was very cold. When it’s full of locals, you know it’s a hit.

This is a simple restaurant offering authentic Northern style cuisines and came recommended by the Michelin Bib guide. We had the larb moo qua, Northern herbal salad and Haeng lay pork curry. The food was super delicious. The food was spicy yet flavourful. You have...to be adventurous with food and be prepared for a delightful experience for your pallet.More

If you want a real northern thai experience come to this place. You'll see very few if any westerners there. That said the staff is very accommodating and not all the food is spicy. One of my favorites is smoked chicken weaves. If you do...like spicy foods, go with jungle curry. Haeng Lay curry is another favorite of mine. Rich and mildly spicy. It shows Burmese influences.More

This was our third trip to Krua Prech Doi Ngam and the really nice thing about it is that every time we were the only westerners there. Really a place where Thais eat. I hope not to spoil it with our presence, but not only...is it local, it's locals having a good time. We ate this time with our group of eight friends so we were able to get a wide range of items, from the white turmeric salad to the fish with spicy papaya salad, and of course the northern Chiang Mai sausage. Cold beer and great service make this one of our favorite places to go in Chiang Mai.More

The white turmeric salad is one of the greatest things I've ever eaten. It's very easy to miss the restaurant and is a bit out of the way, but is a must visit!

This place was well off the beaten path and was filled with locals which is always a good sign! We ordered off of the "recommended" menu and experienced some great flavored and textures that we have never had before. The white turmeric salad was tasty...as advertised on other reviews and had a real earthiness to it. My favorite was the braised beef short ribs in chili sauce - really tender and bursting with flavor. The service was very good but there was definitely a language barrier. I ordered by pointing to the menu which apparently didn't work all that well because we ended up getting an extra dish that we didn't order which was the ground black shark minnows - I know, right?! I didn't even know what it was but we ate it anyway. It seemed like chorizo but had a very floral flavor that was almost soapy. My wife really liked the chicken drum sticks as well. There was a good amount of spice with most of the dishes so beware if you're not into that. I highly recommend this place if you're wanting something that northern Thai people eat.More

Although a bit out of the way, this place is absolutely worth the travel. The food is excellent and there are lots of gastronomic discoveries to be made for the adventurous palates. For us it was the white turmeric salad, a dish unique to this...region, as far as I know, with a very unique taste. But there are dozens of other foods to be sampled, just wish I've had more time!More

This restaurant will not appear on most tourist websites & we only found out about it through a local website. And what a find. The food was outstanding. Many of the dishes we had never heard of but were so good we ended up ordering...seconds! The hands down favourite was the white turmeric salad - just thinking of it makes we want to fly down right now & have a plate! Be aware, this is in a very local part of Chiang Mai & not easy to find, so make sure you get a driver who definitely knows the place or make sure your hotel gives him very specific directions! Also they have 2 restaurants (in the same area) but we were told the menu is the same at both. But its worth all the effort!More
